Netflix is going all A Quiet Place this Christmas, with new survival thriller Bird Box.
Directed by Susanne Bier (The Night Manager), the film sees a mysterious force decimate the world’s population: if you see it, you take your life. Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now, she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.
Sandra Bullock leads the all-star ensemble that includes Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes, American Horror Story’s Sarah Paulson, Animal Kingdom’s Jacki Weaver and Rev’s Tom Hollander.
Now, a new trailer gives us a full look at the film, including what’s behind behind this apocalyptic horror – if you don’t want to know more about what’s in store, don’t watch it. Staying blindfolded? The good news is you only have to wait until Friday 21st December to see the whole movie.

Facing the unknown, Malorie finds love, hope and a new beginning only for it to unravel. Now, she must flee with her two children down a treacherous river to the one place left that may offer sanctuary. But to survive, they’ll have to undertake the perilous two-day journey blindfolded.

Machine Gun Kelly and David Dastmalchian join Sandra Bullock in Netflix’s Bird Box

Machine Gun Kelly and David Dastmalchian have joined the cast of Netflix’s new thriller, Bird Box.
The movie, which stars Sandra Bullock, follows a woman and a pair of children, who are blindfolded, as they make their way along a river in a post-apocalyptic world. The movie is written by Arrival’s Eric Heisserer and is directed by The Night Manager’s Susanne Bier – a pairing that has drawn an impressive supporting cast, including Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes, John Malkovich, Jacki Weaver, Sarah Paulson, Patti Cake$’ Danielle Macdonald, Alita: Battle Angel star Rosa Salazar, and Lil Rel Howery.
Now, the ensemble has recruited two more members. Richard Colson Baker, aka. Machine Gun Kelly, has signed on to play Felix. Baker will be familiar to fans of Nerve, which starred Dave Franco and Emma Roberts, and Showtime’s series Roadies, and will next be seen in Rupert Wyatt’s Captive State, opposite Vera Farmiga.
Ant-Man’s David Dastmalchian, meanwhile, has been cast as Whistling Marauder, the main villain of the movie. Dastmalchian can currently be seen in Blade Runner 2049 and will see appear in indie film All Creatures Here Below, alongside Karen Gillan.
The movie is produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan and Clayton Townsend. It was one of the first films to be brought to Netflix by Scott Stuber, who was developing the project at Universal before he moved to the streaming service to head up its feature film division.
Trevante Rhodes, Jacki Weaver, Sarah Paulson join Sandra Bullock in Netflix’s Bird Box

A whole host of starry names will appear alongside Sandra Bullock in Netflix’s new original film, Bird Box.
The thriller was nabbed by the streaming giant earlier this year, with Bullock attached to the project. It follows a woman and a pair of children, who are blindfolded, as they make their way along a river in a post-apocalyptic world.
The film is produced by Dylan Clark, Chris Morgan and Clayton Townsend and was developed by Scott Stuber, when he was at Universal. When Stuber moved to Netflix to head up its feature film arm, he brought the project with him, joining a slate that includes Outlaw King, starring Chris Pine and Florence Pugh, and David Ayer’s Bright, starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
Bird Box is set to be just as star-studded, with Bullock joined by Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes, who will soon be seen in Fox’s Predator reboot, Animal Kingdom’s Jacki Weaver, American Crime Story Emmy winner Sarah Paulson, and Patti Cake$ breakout Danielle Macdonald. Rosa Salazar, who will next be seen in Maze Runner: The Death Cure, John Malkovich and Lil Rel Howery round out the ensemble.
The names behind the camera are equally impressive, with The Night Manager director Susanne Bier at helm and a script from Arrival writer Eric Heisserer.
