MUBI is taking us to The Wild Goose Lake this February, and a new trailer gives us a glimpse at the stunning neo-noir.

The newest film from director Diao Yi’nan, who won Berlin’s Golden Bear with the acclaimed Black Coal, Thin Ice, the film debuted in the official selection of Cannes Film Festival last May. The moody thriller follows a gang leader (Hu Ge) and a mysterious girl (Gwei Lun Mei) whose paths intertwine as they are both running away from their past, in search of freedom and redemption.

The film handles its sprawling plot with masterful craft, reimagining familiar tropes while making them memorable and fresh.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, MUBI is releasing the film exclusively on 28th February. Here’s the trailer:
