The Time Traveler’s Wife has been canceled after one season by HBO.
The six-part drama, based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger that was previously adapted into a feature film, tells the story of Clare and Henry, and a marriage with a problem: time travel.
Adapted by Doctor Who’s Steven Moffat and directed by David Nutter, it stars Rose Leslie as Clare Abshire, Theo James as Henry DeTamble, alongside Desmin Borges and Natasha Lopez.
“For better or worse, Steven Moffat’s faithful, challenging and surprising adaptation is always compelling,” we wrote in our review.
Just a couple of weeks after Season 1’s finale airing, however, HBO has decided not to renew the programme for a second.
“Though HBO will not be moving forward with a second season of The Time Traveler’s Wife, it was our privilege to partner with master storytellers Steven Moffat and David Nutter,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “We are so grateful for their passion, hard work and care for adapting this beloved book. We also thank Theo and Rose, and the rest of our brilliant cast for their heartfelt performances, which completely captivated audiences.”
