July sees London’s streets come alive for Pride 2022 and to celebrate STARZPLAY debuts the US remake of Queer as Folk. It’s joined by The Girl From Plainville, starring Elle Fanning, and weekly episodes of Becoming Elizabeth.
Here’s what’s coming to STARZPLAY in July 2022:
Queer as Folk: Season 1 – 1st July
Queer as Folk is a vibrant reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T Davies, exploring a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy. Two new episodes arrive every Friday.
Mama – 1st July
Guillermo del Toro presents this supernatural thriller starring Jessica Chastain about two girls found five years after disappearing into the woods.
Spider-Man – 1st July
When bitten by a genetically modified spider, an awkward high school student (Tobey Maguire) gains spider-like abilities that he then uses to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family in Sam Raimi’s adaptation of the classic superhero.
The Amazing Spider-Man – 1st July
Andrew Garfield takes on the role of Peter Parker, who, after being bitten by a radioactive spider, navigates high school and a crazed mutant professor as he comes to terms with his powers.
The Girl from Plainville: Season 1 – 10th July
Based on the Esquire article by Jesse Barron, The Girl From Plainville stars Elle Fanning as Michelle Carter and is inspired by the true story of her unprecedented “texting-suicide” case. The limited series explores Carter’s relationship with Conrad Roy III and the events that led to his death and, later, her conviction of involuntary manslaughter. Alongside Fanning, the series stars Chloë Sevigny as Lynn Roy, Colton Ryan as Conrad Roy III, Cara Buono as Gail Carter, Kai Lennox as David Carter, and Norbert Leo Butz as Conrad Roy II. New episodes arrive weekly on Sunday.
Last Man Standing: Suge Knight and the Murgers of Biggie and Tupac – 31st July
The story of Suge Knight, recently sentenced to 28 years imprisonment for manslaughter. Presenting new material and evidence never heard before, this film is the definitive story of Suge and the murders of Biggie and Tupac.
Becoming Elizabeth – Weekly
Becoming Elizabeth is the untold story of England’s most iconic Queen, long before she ascended the throne. Henry VIII’s death throws a young orphan Elizabeth Tudor into the unpredictable and dangerous English court. As her 9-year-old brother is crowned king and the great families of England and powers of Europe vie for control of the country, Elizabeth can be either pawn or player. New episodes arrive weekly on Sunday (except for 24th July).
P-Valley: Season 2 – Weekly
Season 2 reveals a whole new Pynk as it struggles to remain open during a pandemic, a battle for the throne, and the possibility of some new blood shaking up the locker room. This season takes audiences deeper into the lives of the Pynk’s beloved characters as darkness descends upon Chucalissa. New episodes arrive weekly on Sunday (except for 17th July).
