Watch: New trailer for Amazon’s Encounter

Riz Ahmed and Octavia Spencer are headed to Amazon Prime Video this Christmas, and a new trailer gives us a first look at their Encounter.
Directed by Beast helmer Michael Pearce, the sci-fi film follows a decorated Marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from a mysterious threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys end up having to leave their childhoods behind.
Written by Joe Barton and Michael Pearce, the film co-stars Rory Cochrane, Lucian-River Chauhan and Aditya Geddada. It had its UK premiere at the London Film Festival in October.
“A superb turn from Riz Ahmed grounds this moving, gripping, unsettling sci-fi thriller,” we wrote in our review.
The film will play in UK cinemas on 3rd December before going on to stream on Amazon Prime Video worldwide on 10th December. Here’s the trailer:

Riz Ahmed is heading back to Amazon Prime Video this year for new thriller Encounter.
Directed by Beast helmer Michael Pearce, the film is co-written by Pearce and Joe Barton. It follows a decorated Marine who goes on a rescue mission to save his two young sons from a mysterious threat. As their journey takes them in increasingly dangerous directions, the boys end up having to leave their childhoods behind.
Ahmed stars in the film oppositeOctavia Spencer, with the rest of the ensemble including Rory Cochrane, Lucian-River Chauhan and Aditya Geddada. You can see them in action when the film is released in cinemas on 3rd December, before going on to stream on Amazon Prime Video on 10th December. Before then, though, Encounter will be premiering at the London Film Festival, joining a number of other streaming titles, including Netflix’s The Power of the Dog and The Harder They Fall.
