Taskmaster is returning to our screens this November, and looking younger than ever, as Channel 4 officially begins Junior Taskmaster.
The family-friendly spin-off from the hit series builds on the popularity of the PG and “bleeped” versions of the original show with younger viewers, parents and family audiences generally. With increasing number of schools across the UK taking Taskmaster into the classroom, either informally, or now via School Tasking and Taskmaster Education, this new eight-part junior version will officially invite young people aged 9 to 11 to bring their fledgling wiles, athleticism and creativity to the game that recognises genius at any age.
In place of Greg Davies’ Taskmaster, Rose Matafeo is set to assume the role of the mighty Junior Taskmaster to score the efforts and assign points to five plucky junior contestants as they complete a series of characteristically bizarre tasks. Meanwhile, stepping into Alex Horne’s shoes as the Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant, Mike Wozniak will diligently take notes, record statistics and efficiently administer each and every task.
Matafeo said: “To be appointed as Junior Taskmaster is one of the greatest honours of my already wildly successful career. I am greatly looking forward to the power going to my head”.
Wozniak added: “All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a Little Alex Horne (or a regional manager for a major provider of motorway service stations) so this is literally a dream come true. I hereby vow to do my utmost to hold the office of Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant in the spirit of the original Little Alex Horne: with his courage, his grit and his dignity”.
The series will premiere at 8pm on Friday 8th November on Channel 4. Get a glimpse of the silliness in store with the trailer below – and get to know the Junior Taskmaster and Junior Taskmaster’s Assistant with a Q&A interview.
