David Farnor | On 25, Jul 2018
Cable Girls will return for a fiery third season this autumn, as Netflix’s Spanish drama delivers dark twists, steamy affairs and a whole heap of period style.
The show, which first premiered in 2017, took us back to Madrid, 1928, when the national telephone company opened its headquarters in the city centre, drawing hundreds of girls to apply for a job as a “cable girl” in the only place that represented progress and modernity for women at the time. It follows Lidia (Blanca Suárez, El barco, El internado), Marga (Nadia de Santiago, Musarañas, Amar es para siempre), Carlota (Ana Fernández, Los protegidos) and Ángeles (Maggie Civantos, Vis a vis), as they try to find their way through sexism, betrayal and competition to make friends and a new future for themselves.
Season 3 sees the women enter the 1930s, with the main cast reprising their roles, alongside Ana Polvorosa, Yon González, and Martiño Rivas. Season 3 will premiere on Friday 7th September. Here’s the trailer:
Cable Girls is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.

Las Chicas del Cable are sashaying back onto Netflix this September, and this time, they’re heading into he 1930s.
The show, which first premiered last year, took us back to Madrid, 1928, when the national telephone company opened its headquarters in the city centre, drawing hundreds of girls to apply for a job as a “cable girl” in the only place that represented progress and modernity for women at the time.
The result was so promising that Netflix renewed it for a second season before the first had ever premiered. “A light, frothy series that wears its broad feminist message with all the style you’d expect from the glossy pages of the past,” is how we described the series our review of Season 1.
Now, Season 3 sees the women enter the 1930s, with the main cast reprising their roles, alongside Ana Polvorosa, Yon González, and Martiño Rivas. Season 3 will premiere on Friday 7th September, with the new teaser promising that this time, they will have to stand their ground.
