Far Cry animated series in the works at Netflix

Netflix is bringing Far Cry to our screens with not one but two new animated series in the works.
The video game franchise has been a hit ever since it first arrived in 2004, balancing first-person shooter action with horror and challenging players to survive in wilderness environments ruled over by despots and other dangerous forces. This October, Far Cry 6 will be released, set on a fictional island loosely based on Cuba, with Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito voicing the villain.
But before then, publishers Ubisoft are already looking at other ways to expand its Far Cry franchise, with two shows on the way to Netflix.
The first is Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, a six-episode series based on the cyberpunk-themed Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. It is described as “an original anime featuring alter egos of Ubisoft characters in a deep homage to the early 90s”, and will be produced by animation studio Bobbypills. Adi Shankar (“Castlevania”) is on board as creator and executive producer
Also in development is a second, brand new Far Cry animated series.
The projects continue Netflix and Ubisoft’s ongoing relationship, with a Splinter Cell series also on the way to the streaming service.
