“You’re going to have to come closer…” That’s the sound of Creepshow returning to Shudder this September – and a new trailer gives us a first look at the new chapter of its spooky anthology.
Exec produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), Creepshow is Shudder’s first hour-long scripted original, aiming to give subscribers a nostalgic taste of the storytelling that made Stephen King and George A Romero’s 1982 movie of the same name so iconic.
“Shudder’s revived anthology is an enjoyably old-fashioned ride,” we wrote in our review of Season 1.
It shattered all Shudder records when it debuted, becoming its most watched programme. AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, swiftly ordered a second season, and then, before that had even arrived, swiftly greenlit a third run too.
“Shudder’s horror anthology returns for a confident, entertaining second chapter,” we wrote in our review of Season 2.
Season 3 will comprise 12 episodes, with guest stars included Michael Rooker, James Remar, Johnathon Schaech, Reid Scott, Hannah Fierman, King Bach and Ethan Embry. It will premiere on 23rd September, with episodes arriving weekly.
Here’s the trailer:
Creepshow is available to stream online on Shudder UK, as part of a £4.99 monthly subscription, or £49.99 yearly membership.
Shudder orders Season 3 of Creepshow
17th June 2020
Season 3 of Creepshow is in the works at Shudder.
Exec produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead), Creepshow is Shudder’s first hour-long scripted series and shattered all Shudder records when it debuted last October, becoming its most watched programme. AMC Networks’ streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural debuted its revival last autumn, giving subscribers a nostalgic taste of the storytelling that made the 1982 movie from Stephen King and George A Romero iconic.
“Shudder’s revived anthology of horror is an enjoyably old-fashioned ride,” we wrote in our review.
The second season was set to commence shooting in March in Atlanta, Georgia, but has been on hold until film and television production resumes. Nonetheless, scripts have now been ordered for a third run.
“Creepshow continues to be near and dear to my heart and having the opportunity to continue the legacy by developing season 3 gives me the chance to work with some of the best storytellers and artists in the business. The stories we have in the pipeline for season 2 are even more outrageous, more fun and capture the spirit of what George Romero and Stephen King started in the 80s,” says Nicotero.
“Although season 2 is on pause while we wait until it’s safe to go into production, we wanted to use the time to start work on season 3 scripts to let Greg Nicotero and his amazing team get as far ahead as possible,” adds Shudder GM Craig Engler.
Shudder’s Creepshow is produced by the Cartel with Monster Agency Productions, Taurus Entertainment, and Striker Entertainment: Stan Spry, Jeff Holland, and Eric Woods are executive producers for the Cartel; Greg Nicotero and Brian Witten are executive producers and Julia Hobgood is a co-executive producer for Monster Agency Productions; Robert Dudelson, James Dudelson and Jordan Kizwani are executive producers for Taurus Entertainment; Russell Binder is executive producer and Marc Mostman co-executive producer for Striker Entertainment.
