Shrinking will return to Apple TV+ in October, and new images give us a first look at Season 2.
Written by Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Lasso), Brett Goldstein and Jason Segel, the series follows a grieving therapist, Jimmy (Segel), who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives – including his own.
The comedy-drama sees Harrison Ford in one of his first major TV roles, playing Jimmy’s boss, Paul. It co-stars Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell.
Season 2 will see them return, alongside Ted McGinley and – as a special guest star – Brett Goldstein.
You can see them all in action on Wednesday 16th October, when Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes arriving together, followed by episodes weekly until 25th December.

Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams join Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking
9th April 2022
Harrison Ford and Jessica Williams are among the impressive names to join the cast of Shrinking this week.
The Apple TV+ comedy series follows Jimmy, a grieving therapist who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives… including his own.
The series was ordered last year, with Jason Segel taking the lead role and also serving as writer and executive producer alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Lasso) and Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso). Segel, Lawrence and Goldstein will all serve as writers and executive producers, with Jeff Ingold serving as executive producer and Liza Katzer as co-executive producer.
Now, they’ve got some star names in front of the camera to boot, with Harrison Ford cast as Dr Phil Rhodes, a down-to earth “blue collar shrink” who pioneered Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and built the practice where Jimmy works. Recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s, Phil has to grapple with intrusive friends, estranged family and his professional legacy.
Jessica Williams (2 Dope Queens, The Incredible Jessica James) will play Gaby, a therapist who also works at the clinic and is friends with Jimmy, a fellow protege of Dr Phil.
Also joining the cast is Christa Miller (Head of the Class) as Liz, Jimmy’s neighbour who is a mother figure to his daughter.
Shrinking: Jason Segel, Brett Goldstein team up for Apple TV+ comedy
14th October 2021
Jason Segel and Brett Goldstein are teaming up with Bill Lawrence for Shrinking, a new comedy for Apple TV+.
The 10-episode series will star Jason Segel, who also serves as writer and executive producer alongside Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Ted Lasso) and Brett Goldstein (Ted Lasso). It follows a grieving therapist (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives… including his own.
The new series will be produced by Warner Bros Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Segel, Lawrence and Goldstein will all serve as writers and executive producers, with Jeff Ingold serving as executive producer and Liza Katzer as co-executive producer.
Shrinking marks the second Apple Original starring Segel, who is next set to star in Apple Original Films’ The Sky is Everywhere, based on the best-selling novel of the same name. It also marks the third partnership for Apple, Lawrence and Warner Bros Television, alongside Ted Lasso and the recently announced series order for Bad Monkey.
