“All these years, you have concealed parts of yourself from the world…” That’s the sound of Alfonso Cuaron making his Apple TV+ debut with Disclaimer – and a new trailer gives us a proper look at the psychological thriller.
The seven-part series is based on the novel of the same name by Renée Knight. It follows acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who has built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realise she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband, Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen), and their son, Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.
You can see them in action on 11th October, when the first two episodes arrive on Apple TV+ – followed by new episodes weekly until the finale on 15th November. Here’s the trailer:

Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline are heading to Apple TV+ this October, and a new trailer gives us a first look at them in Alfonso Cuarón’s Disclaimer.
The series is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight and written and directed by the five-time Oscar winner. The psychological thriller follows acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett), who has built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realise she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.
As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband, Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen), and their son, Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.
Co-produced by Esperanto Filmoj and Anonymous Content, it is exec-produced by Cuarón for Esperanto Filmoj alongside Gabriela Rodriguez, as well as Blanchett, plus David Levine and the late Steve Golin for Anonymous Content. Emmanuel Lubezki, Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales also executive produce.
Told in seven chapters, the limited series will premiere on 11th October with the first two episodes landing together – followed by weekly episodes on Fridays until the finale on 15th November.

Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline will star in Disclaimer, a new series from Alfonso Cuarón for Apple TV+.
Apple has given a full series order to the thriller, which is based on the novel of the same name by Renee Knight.
Blanchett will star as Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful and respected television documentary journalist whose work has been built on revealing the concealed transgressions of long-respected institutions. When an intriguing novel written by a widower (played by Kline) appears on her bedside table, she is horrified to realize she is a key character in a story that she had hoped was long buried in the past. A story that reveals her darkest secret. A secret she thought was hers alone.
The series will be the first project to debut from a multi-year deal with Cuarón, who is developing television series exclusively for Apple TV+. It also marks first time Cuarón has written and directed all episodes of an original series.
Cuarón’s production company Esperanto Filmoj will producer alongside Anonymous Content. Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman) and Bruno Delbonnel (The Tragedy of Macbeth, Inside Llewyn Davis) will serve as directors of photography. Cuarón serves as executive producer alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine, Dawn Olmstead and Steve Golin.
Blanchett will also executive produce and Renee Knight will serve as co-executive producer.
