QuaranstreamFest: Join us for a romantic comedy weekender
James R | On 20, May 2020
This Bank Holiday weekend, VODzilla.co is falling head over heels for the romantic comedy all over again, with a weekend season dedicated to cinema’s most under-appreciated genre.
Everyone knows what to expect from a rom-com – and it’s not just romance and a bit of a comedy. But what makes rom-coms such an important part of our expectations of human relationships? What lessons did you learn from them as a teen? Which ones should you see that you’ve never heard of? And why is Netflix so infatuated with making them?
We’ll be tackling all those questions and more with a three-day celebration of romantic comedies. Expect podcast discussions and streaming picks, alongside reviews of hidden gems, deep dives into new and old favourites and an interview with Elizabeth Sankey, the director of the excellent Romantic Comedy, which premiered this month on MUBI.
#RomComWeekender runs from Saturday 23rd to Sunday 25th May. Follow the hashtag to take part – or stay tuned to vodzilla.co/quaranstreamfest for more.

Since the coronavirus outbreak, #QuaranstreamFest has brought streaming culture to UK living rooms throughout the week, from True Crime Tuesdays and Digital Theatre Thursdays to Film Good Fridays that bring you the best feel-good movies online. And, every Sunday, we go into full-on binge mode with Box Set Sunday recommendations.
