Confirmed: Palm Springs set for April UK release
James R | On 08, Feb 2021
Palm Springs will officially arrive on UK screens this April, we can confirm.
The romantic comedy, starring Andy Samberg alongside Cristin Milioti, follows carefree Nyles (Andy Samberg) and reluctant maid of honour Sarah (Cristin Milioti) who have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding. Things soon get complicated when the pair find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other. The film co-stars JK Simmons (Roy), Meredith Hagner (Misty), Camila Mendes (Tala), Tyler Hoechlin (Abe), and Peter Gallagher (Howard).
Directed by Max Barbakow and written by Andy Siara, the film broke records last year for the biggest sale in the history of the Sundance Film Festival – although that has since been surpassed by Apple TV+ snapping up CODA at this year’s fest.
As awards season gets underway, the film has proven an outside contender, picking up nominations for Best First Screenplay in the Independent Spirit Awards and bagging two nods at the Golden Globes for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
UK fans will have to wait a little longer for the film to be available to watch online, however, with Amazon Prime Video releasing Palm Springs on 9th April.

Now, after streaming on Hulu in the USA, Amazon will officially release the film on Amazon Prime Video in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Netherlands, France and the UK.
Prime subscribers in Australia and New Zealand will be able to enjoy the film from 20th November, followed by Canada on 18th December. UK audiences will have to wait a little longer, with an early 2021 release date yet to be pinned down to anything more specific than that.
“Palm Springs is the perfect addition to Prime Video’s extensive collection of entertaining films, brought directly and exclusively to Prime members around the world”, said Brad Beale, Vice President, Worldwide Content Acquisition, Prime Video. “With captivating and hilarious performances, from Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, JK Simmons, and Peter Gallagher, Prime members will fall in love with this instant classic.”
Samberg commented: “We’re thrilled that Palm Springs is finally going to reach audiences outside of the US and we hope that all the Prime members in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the UK, France and the Netherlands enjoy the genre-bending ride!”
Amazon’s acquisition of the film follows a number of other high profile acquisitions by the online giant in recent months, including Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, One Night in Miami, Run Sweetheart Run, Time and Without Remorse, not to mention reported negotiations for Coming 2 America.
