Virgin River returns to Netflix for Season 3, and a new trailers gives us a look at the drama in store.
Based on the 20-book series by New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr, the romantic drama follows a nurse practitioner who moves from LA to a remote northern California town searching for a fresh start. Once there, she is surprised by what – and who – she finds.
Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson star as Melinda Monroe and Jack Sheridan, a sharp-witted ex-Marine commander, who moved to Virgin River after his service was over in search of a peaceful life, far away from the horrors of war.

Netflix renews Virgin River for Season 2

Netflix has renewed Virgin River for Season 2.
Based on the 20-book series by New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr, the romantic drama follows a nurse practitioner who moves from LA to a remote northern California town searching for a fresh start. Once there, she is surprised by what – and who – she finds.
Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson star as Melinda Monroe and Jack Sheridan, a sharp-witted ex-Marine commander, who moved to Virgin River after his service was over in search of a peaceful life, far away from the horrors of war.
The series premiered on Netflix at the start of this month, and now, within a couple of weeks of its debut, Deadline reports the streaming giant has already greenlit a second season.
Sue Tenney will once again serve as showrunner and executive producer o the 10-episode second run, with Jocelyn Freid, Roma Roth, and Christopher E. Perry also executive producers.
With more than 20 books in Carr’s original series, which have sold more than 13 million copies, there is certainly plenty of material for Netflix to mine for many more seasons to come.

Virgin River washes on to Netflix this week, and a new trailer finally gives us our first look at the romantic drama.

Virgin River premieres on Friday 6th December. Here’s the trailer:

Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson will star in Virgin River, Netflix’s adaptation of novels by Robyn Carr. Over the 20 books in the contemporary series, Carr has now sold more than 13 million copies worldwide. They follow Melinda Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the titular remote California town thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.
Breckenridge (This is Us, The Walking Dead) will play Melinda Monroe, while Henderson (Grey’s Anatomy) will play Jack Sheridan, a sharp-witted ex-Marine commander, who moved to Virgin River after his service was over in search of a peaceful life, far away from the horrors of war.
They will be joined by Tim Matheson (The Affair, The Good Fight, The West Wing) as the curmudgeonly Doc Mullins, Annette O’Toole (Smallville, Marvel’s The Punisher) as Hope McCrea, Virgin River’s brash and blunt mayor, Jenny Cooper (Grey’s Anatomy, Open Heart) as Joey Barnes, Mel’s charming older sister, David Cubitt (Siren, Medium) as Calvin, the unquestioned leader of the largest of the many illegal pot fields that litter the landscape around the town, Ian Tracey (Bates Motel, Incorporated) as Jimmy: Calvin’s lieutenant and enforcer, Lexa Doig (Arrow, The Arrangement) as Paige Lassiter, a local entrepreneur, Daniel Gillies (The Originals, Saving Hope) as Mark, Mel’s first love and a surgeon in the Los Angeles ER where she worked, Lauren Hammersley (Orphan Black, Mr. D) as Charmaine Roberts, an attractive hair stylist competing for Jack’s attention, Colin Lawrence (Riverdale, Good Doctor) as John “Preacher” Middleton, Jack’s best friend and fellow soldier, plus Benjamin Hollingsworth (Code Black, Cold Pursuit) as Dan Brady, another former Marine under Jack’s command.
Netflix has ordered 10 episodes of the series, which is produced by Reel World Management and Roma Roth, with Sue Tenney on board as showrunner.
Netflix adapts best-selling novels Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias

Netflix is bringing the work of two best-selling female authors to the screen with new series adapted from Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias.
Virgin River is based on the series of novels by Robyn Care, who topped the New York Times bestseller list with her popular works. Over the 20 books in the contemporary series, Carr has now sold more than 13 million copies worldwide. Virgin River has since been named to The HarperCollins 200 list, which celebrates 200 iconic books of the past 200 years.
The novels follow Melinda Monroe, who answers an ad to work as a nurse practitioner in the titular remote California town thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories behind. But she soon discovers that small-town living isn’t quite as simple as she expected and that she must learn to heal herself before she can truly make Virgin River her home.
Reel World Management and Roma Roth are producing the series for Netflix, with Sue Tenney serving as showrunner and executive producer. Roma Roth and Chris Perry will executive produce, with production starting later this year.
Sweet Magnolias is based on the series of novels published by MIRA Books, an imprint of Harlequin, by New York Times best-selling author Sherryl Woods.
It centres on three South Carolina women, best friends since high school, as they shepherd each other through the complexities of romance, career, and family.
Sheryl J. Anderson will serve as showrunner and executive producer, with Woods also serving as an executive producer, alongside Dan Paulson.
Netflix has ordered 10 episodes.
