Netflix signs overall deal with Eric Newman

Netflix has inked an overall series deal with Eric Newman.
Newman is a veteran film and television writer/producer whose film productions include Children of Men, Zack Snyder’s reimagining of Dawn of The Dead, The Last Exorcism, and In Time. The deal represents a strengthening of Newman’s relationship with Netflix after having first brought them Hemlock Grove, the service’s second original program produced, and following that up with Netflix’s critically acclaimed, global hit series Narcos, which he conceived, packaged, and brought to the streaming service in 2014 and on which he continues to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer.
Newman, through his company Screen Arcade, is also producing Netflix’s untitled sci-fi movie from Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, starring Jamie Foxx, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Dominique Fishback.
The formal expansion of Netflix’s relationship with Newman is a promising indicator of the streaming giant’s confidence in that project; the multi-year overall deal with the showrunner and writer is in addition to Newman’s previously announced Netflix feature film overall deal via Screen Arcade.
