James R | On 22, May 2022
“How long do we have?” “Four, maybe five days before existence is blitzed. Not to mention we’ve been replaced by a bunch of blobs, and cubes and birds.” That’s the sound of The Umbrella Academy returning for a third season, and a new trailer gives us a closer look at what’s in store.
Based on the comic book series created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics, Netflix’s series follows the seven children who were adopted by the billionaire Reginald, who created The Umbrella Academy and prepared them to save the world. Season 1 saw the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and work together to save their world. Season 2 scattered the siblings across the 1960s – only for them to discover, when they returned to the present day, that another Reginald academy from another timeline had appeared: The Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, Ritu Arya, Adam Godley, and Colm Feore will reprise their roles as the Umbrella Academy, opposite Sparrow Academy members Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle) as #1, Marcus, Britney Oldford (The Path, Hunters) as #3, Fei, Jake Epstein (Designated Survivor, Suits) as #4, Alphonso, Genesis Rodriguez (The Fugitive, Big Hero 6) as #5, Sloane, and Justin H Min as #2, Ben.
Super sibling rivalry? See the conflict unfold on 22nd June, when Season 3 premieres on Netflix. Here’s the trailer:
First look: The Umbrella Academy Season 3 set for June debut
16th May 2022
It feels like many years since The Umbrella Academy was last on our screens, and not just because of its time-jumping hijinks. Now, we know it’s not much longer until the umbrella unfolds again, with our first look at Season 3, which lands this June.
Season 2 picked up as the time-jumping finale of Season 1 scattered the siblings across different years and places around the 1960s – only to find that when they returned to the present day, another Reginald academy from another timeline had appeared: The Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, Ritu Arya, Adam Godley, and Colm Feore are set to reprise their roles for Season 3. Joining then will be: Justin H Min as Sparrow #2 Ben – a Machiavellian tactician, wrapped up in a pretty boy body with a rumbling inner-squid; Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle) as #1, Marcus, a charming, chiseled, colossus; Britney Oldford (The Path, Hunters) as Sparrow #3, Fei, who sees the world in a special way and mostly wants a friend – but if you cross her there’s no looking back; Jake Epstein (Designated Survivor, Suits) as Sparrow #4, Alphonso, a scarred crime fighter armed with a caustic and biting sense of humour; Genesis Rodriguez (The Fugitive, Big Hero 6) as Sloane, Sparrow #5, a dreamer who feels a higher cosmic calling leaving her eager to see the world but afraid of crossing the family line.
Together, they promise a formidable new for our heroes – and a new image and teaser make it clear that a battle is brewing. You can see it unfold when Season 3 premieres on 22nd June.
The Umbrella Academy Season 3 recruits Sparrow Academy cast
10th November 2020
The Umbrella Academy will return to Netflix for Season 3 – and it’ll be bringing a whole new academy of characters with it.
Based on the comic book series created and written by Gerard Way, illustrated by Gabriel Bá, and published by Dark Horse Comics, the series follows the seven children who were adopted by a billionaire who created The Umbrella Academy and prepared them to save the world. Season 1 saw the six surviving members reunite upon the news of their father’s passing and work together to save their world. Season 2 picked up as the time-jumping finale of Season 1 scattered the siblings across different years and places around the 1960s – only to find that when they returned to the present day, another academy had appeared: The Sparrow Academy.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H Min, Ritu Arya, Adam Godley, and Colm Feore are set to reprise their roles for Season 3. Justin H Min will also play the part of the Sparrow #2 Ben – not the guy we know and love. This Ben is a Machiavellian tactician, wrapped up in a pretty boy body with a rumbling inner-squid. Vicious, pragmatic, and hyper-vigilant, Ben is determined to gain his status as the leader at all costs.
Also in the Sparrows is Justin Cornwell (Jingle Jangle) as #1, Marcus, a charming, chiseled, colossus. Honest, virtuous, and demanding, Marcus keeps the family together. Graceful but lethal, calculated but compassionate, he is as smart as he is strong. Marcus is disciplined, rational and in control. He oozes confidence and leadership without ever having to raise his voice.
Britne Oldford (The Path, Hunters) will play Sparrow #3, Fei, who sees the world in a special way. She comes across as a misanthrope who would rather be alone than spend even a second with you. But truth be told, Fei wishes she had a friend. Most of the time, Fei is the smartest person in the room and willing to work things out. But if you cross her there’s no looking back because Fei won’t stop until the job is done.
Jake Epstein (Designated Survivor, Suits) will play Sparrow #4, Alphonso. Years of crime fighting have left his face and body with countless visual reminders of his battles. To compensate, Alphonso is armed with a caustic and biting sense of humor. The only thing he likes better than verbally battering anyone foolish enough to get in his face, is a good pizza and a six-pack of beer.
Genesis Rodriguez (The Fugitive, Big Hero 6) will play Sloane, Sparrow #5. A romantic and a dreamer who feels a higher cosmic calling leaving her eager to see the world and experience a life beyond her upbringing. But obligations to her family keep Sloane tethered to the Academy, as does her fear of crossing the family line. But Sloane has plans… and one day she might just be brave enough to act on them.
Cazzie David (author of No One Asked for This) will play Jayme, Sparrow #6, a loner hidden under a hoodie. She doesn’t say much because she doesn’t have to. Jayme has a fear-inducing snarl. Catch a glimpse of it, and you’ll run across the street to avoid what follows. Smart and sharp as a knife, she spends most of her time hanging with Alphonso, her only friend.
Existential Dread Inducing Psykronium Cube (Newcomer) will play Christopher, Sparrow #7, a telekinetic cube of unknown origin. He can turn the room freezing cold and induce paralysing fear. He acts as the Sparrows’ consulted oracle who hands out incredible advice and serves as the family mediator. Trustworthy, loyal, and treated by the Sparrows like any other sibling.
Production on the 10-episode third season begins in February in Toronto.
