MUBI will release Mati Diop’s new short film, In My Room, the day after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
In My Room was created and directed by the Atlantiques helmer during lockdown and is the 20th entry in the ongoing Women’s Tales series of short film.
“When Miu Miu proposed to me to make a film for Women’s Tales during confinement, in the midst of a health and social crisis, I thought it was a very delicate exercise but also a challenge that confronted me with essential questions about my practice as a filmmaker,” said Mati Diop. “What story can I tell now, with minimal means, alone in my studio, that resonates with what the world is going through while being intimate?”
The film will screen at Venice Film Festival as part of the independent Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) sidebar on 6th September. The next day it will stream exclusively on MUBI and on miumiu.com. The film will also be joined on MUBI with the rest of the Women’s Tales collection, including work from Agnés Varda, Chloë Sevigny, Haifaa Al-Mansour, Ava DuVernay and Lynne Ramsay.
