Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz are bringing their two-person show to Netflix this month, and a new trailer gives us a first look at their improvised comedy specials.
Middleditch & Schwartz is a collection of three improvised shows, with each performance based entirely on a random audience suggestion. Middleditch & Schwartz: Dream Job tells the story of two friends, one of whom has an important job interview which spirals into an existential crisis involving photography, The New York Times and JFK airport bathroom stalls. Middleditch & Schwartz: Law School Magic sees what starts as a dreaded final exam for a group of first year law students quickly turn into a test of human morality as the duo encounters an alien, contemplates child abandonment, and dabbles in a bit of magic. Middleditch & Schwartz: Parking Lot Wedding sees emotions high in the events leading up to and during a wedding where the priest, a ghost, and the bride and groom’s parents are as loose as a caboose.
All three parts, filmed at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, premiere on Netflix on 21st April. Here’s the trailer.
Middleditch & Schwartz is available on Netflix UK, as part of an £9.99 monthly subscription.
