John Boyega is heading to Netflix for his next project, a new film from Jeremy Saulnier.

Saulnier, the writer and director of Green Room, is no stranger to the streamer, having made his previous movie, Hold The Dark, for Netflix. That starred Jeffrey Wright and Alexander Skarsgard, and his latest, Rebel Ridge, has a similarly A-list lead star in John Boyega.

Like Green Room, which balanced social commentary with violence, horror and humour, Netflix says Rebel Ridge, will “explore systemic injustice in America”. The thriller sees Boyega continue his run of high-profile projects, with his role of Finn in the Star Wars saga building upon his star-making turn in Attack the Block. Imperial Dreams, an indie drama starring Boyega, was snapped up as a Netflix original in 2017.

Rebel Ridge will be produced by Filmscience and Bonneville Pictures, with Saulnier, Anish Savjani, Neil Kopp, Vincent Savino producing and Macon Blair on board as an executive producer.
