Now Apocalypse cancelled after one season

The end of the world was officially a one-off event, with Now Apocalypse cancelled by STARZ after one season.
The first entry into TV by cult filmmaker Gregg Araki, the provocative, surreal comedy was created and executive-produced by the director of Kaboom and Mysterious Skin, with Steven Soderbergh (Logan Lucky, The Laundromat) and Gregory Jacobs (The Laundromat, Magic Mike XXL) also on board as executive producers.
It starred Avan Jogia (Twisted) as Ulysses, who was struggling to figure out his life in the surreal and bewildering city of Los Angeles. Kelli Berglund (Lab Rats) starred as Carly, Beau Mirchoff (Awkward) as Ford, and Roxane Mesquida (Kaboom) as Severine, all of whom were on quests pursuing love, sex and fame. Between sexual and romantic dating-app adventures, Ulysses grew increasingly troubled as foreboding, premonitory dreams made him wonder if some kind of dark and monstrous conspiracy was going on — or if he was just smoking too much weed.
Araki directed all 10 episodes and co-wrote the series with author and Vogue.com sex columnist Karley Sciortino, who is also the creator and host of Slutever on Viceland. Sciortino also served as consulting producer.
We described the series as “visually and graphically arresting, but a faintly hollow experience” in our review.
Season 1 premiered in March this year on STARZPLAY, following a debut at Sundance, but several months on, STARZ has confirmed that it has not ordered a second run.
“It was a great show, it was a great experiment for us, but we have made the decision not to bring it back,” COO Jeff Hirsch said at the network’s TCA press session last week.

The streaming service offers access to a vast library of Starz originals and exclusives, including popular series such as Vida, Sweetbitter, The White Princess and Mr. Mercedes. The service costs £4.99 a month and also includes an extensive movie library featuring favourites such as The Hunger Games. Now Apocalypse is the latest high-profile premiere on the service, following the debut of Season 2 of Counterpart, the sci-fi series starring JK Simmons, which we hailed as “the best TV show of 2018 you haven’t seen”.
