Netflix. Amazon Prime Video. BBC iPlayer. NOW. Walter Presents. There’s so much TV to watch these days in so many places that it can be hard to keep up. Every month, we boil down what’s on the box to the essentials you need in your streaming queue.

This summer may be all about Stranger Things, but there are plenty more things to keep your indoors during those hot weekends, from the return of Succession to the debut of The Dark Crystal prequel Age of Resistance.

We’ve sorted through All The TV to bring you your August watchlist – what’s worth watching, why and where you can find it online in the UK:

Dear White People: Volume 3

From playing with the narrator to the secretive Order of X, the third season of Netflix’s satire of modern America promises to be unpredictable, with change firmly in the air – not to mention teasing digs at RuPaul and Queer Eye.

She-Ra: Season 3

Netflix’s animated series offers a modern take on the iconic character for a new generation and follows Adora, an orphan who leaves behind her former life in the evil Horde when she discovers a magic sword that transforms her into the mythical warrior princess. Along the way, she finds a new family in the Rebellion as she unites a group of magical princesses in the ultimate fight against evil. Season 3 sees She-Ra’s journey into the Crimson Waste lead to a showdown between Catra (Michalka) and new villain Tung Lashor (Jake Eberle).

Fosse/Verdon

From Cabaret to Sweet Charity, Sam Rockwell and Michelle Williams shine in this eight-part biopic exploring the creative and romantic partnership of Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon. All episodes are available in a box set after its first episode premieres.

The Teacher

Prepare to lose hours to this complex crime drama from Poland. A teacher, newly arrived in a small town from Warsaw, investigates the murder of his daughter only to uncover webs of secrecy and local corruption…

The Mind Of Herbert Clunkerdunk

After its BBC Two pilot, Spencer Jones returns with the visually jaw-dropping, completely ridiculous comedy about Herbert Clunkerdunk, a man trying to get through everyday life, only to be interrupted by his quirky imagination.

Preacher: Season 4

Get Ready for the final reckoning: Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy’s thrill ride to find God thrusts them into a twisted battle spanning Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

Euphoria: Season 1

Following a group of high school students as they navigate love and friendships in a world of drugs, sex, trauma and social media, the series is executive produced by Drake, along with manager Future the Prince. The ensemble cast includes actor and singer Zendaya, Maude Apatow (Girls), Angus Cloud, Eric Dane, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Barbie Ferreira, Nika King, Storm Reid, Hunter Schafer, Algee Smith and Sydney Sweeney (Sharp Objects).

This Way Up: Season 1

Aisling Bea will write and star in This Way Up, a new comedy for Channel 4. Previously known as Happy AF, the series is a co-production with Hulu, and sees the comedian play Aine, a whip smart English-as-a-foreign language (TEFL) teacher trying to pull her life back together after a “teeny little nervous breakdown”. Her sister, Shona, played by Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe, Pulling), worries, not only about her younger sibling, but also about her own life choices. Written by Aisling Bea (‘The Fall’, ‘Gap Year’), she also stars as the charming and funny Aine, a whip-smart English-as-a-foreign language (TEFL) teacher trying to pull her life back together after a “teeny little nervous breakdown”.

Wu Assassins: Season 1

He’s on a mission to save Chinatown, even if it means killing his own father. Kung Fu meets sci-fi meets Asian street food in Netflix’s new thriller.

GLOW: Season 3

Netflix’s wrestling comedy heads to Vegas for its third run.

Free Meek: Season 1

Amazon’s new documentary follows Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill, who was arrested in 2017 for probation violations, sparking outrage. A re-investigation of his original case explores allegations of police corruption as Meek becomes the face of a justice reform movement. The five-episode series chronicles Mill’s fight for exoneration while exposing the broader flaws of the U.S. criminal justice system.

Succession: Season 2

Created by Jesse Armstrong and starring Brian Cox, Succession is a bitingly funny drama following a family dynasty’s disintegration when the Roy family, owners of a global media empire, fight for control of the company through uncertainty over the health of their father.

Fear The Walking Dead: Season 5, Part 2

The Walking Dead spin-off returns to complete its fifth season, with Lennie James’ Morgan in the lead.

NOS4A2: Season 1

Based on Joe Hill’s New York Times best-selling novel of the same name, NOS4A2 is a different kind of vampire story. It follows Vic McQueen (Zachary Quinto), a gifted young woman who discovers she has a supernatural ability to find lost things. This ability puts her on a collision course with the evil and immortal Charlie Manx. Manx is a supernatural villain who feeds off the souls of children and then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – a twisted place of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself.

Deep Water, Season 1

Set against the beautiful and imposing backdrop of the Lake District, Deep Water was written by BAFTA-nominated Anna Symon (Indian Summers, Mrs Wilson) and adapted from the Windermere series of novels by critically-acclaimed author, Paula Daly.

The six part series follows the lives of three complex and vibrant women, each struggling to keep their heads above very deep water. Like all of us, they seek to do their best for their families, but face tough choices with difficult, and often messy repercussions. The women are connected by the school gates, each with children around the same age.

International Emmy winning actress Anna Friel (Marcella, Butterfly) plays mother of three, Lisa Kallisto, who juggles her hectic family life with running a business, which keeps her occupied at all hours. Chaotic and disorganised, Lisa, is married to Joe who works night and day as a taxi driver. All episodes will be available after Episode 1’s broadcast.

Sacred Games: Season 2

The game’s bigger and the stakes are higher, as Netflix’s Mumbai crime drama returns for a second season.

Mindhunter: Season 2

Netflix’s riveting crime drama is back for a long-awaited second season, as FBI agents Bill Tench and Holden Ford profile serial killers and investigate the Atlanta Child Murders.

Stath Lets Flats: Season 2

Britain’s worst letting agent, Stath, is once again unleashed on the London property market, as Jamie Demetriou’s sweaty, desperate salesman returns for a second season. Committed to making a buck out of the housing crisis, and to massaging his own fragile ego, Stath faces his biggest challenge yet at the family business. Having been denied the manager’s position by his own father, Stath – along with Carole (Katy Wix) and the rest of the team – is forced to work under his arch rival, Julian (Dustin Demri-Burns) – and re-think his life goals. His sister Sophie (Natasia Demetriou) is also searching for a new direction after failing at Dance College and publicly denying her feelings for Al (Alistair Roberts).

Brassic: Season 1

Hold on to your (miniature) horses. Brassic, the hotly anticipated comedy starring This is England’s Joe Gilgun, Our Girl’s Michelle Keegan and Being Human’s Damien Molony arrives on NOW in August. The edgy new British comedy series is co-created by Joe Gilgun and BAFTA-winning writer Danny Brocklehurst.

13 Reasons Why: Season 3

Follows the story of a teenager who comes home to find a box of cassette tapes recorded by his classmate, and crush, who committed suicide, containing stories of the thirteen reasons why she decided to end her life.

Peaky Blinders: Season 5

Cillian Murphy returns as Birmingham crime lord Tommy Shelby in the Beeb’s stylish, violent, gripping period drama. Season 5 picks up with Tommy elected as an MP, but with the Wall Street Crash on the horizon and Tommy’s personal state far from stable, the future promises to be as dark and dramatic as ever. True to form, the show’s impressive guest stars this season include Sam Claflin, Anya Taylor-Joy and Neil Maskell.

Sanditon

Inspired by Jane Austen’s unfinished final novel, Sanditon is a compelling depiction of a developing Regency seaside town at the forefront of the great social and economic changes of the age.

When a carriage accident introduces the young Charlotte Heywood to the Parker family, she embarks on a journey from the only home she has ever known to the seaside idyll of Sanditon.

Carried along by the enthusiasm of entrepreneur Tom Parker for the development of the once small fishing village into a fashionable seaside resort, Charlotte quickly finds herself at the heart of a diverse and unexpected community.

From the direct but miserly Lady Denham, on whose fortune the Sanditon project relies, to the bitter fight between the numerous relatives hoping to inherit Lady Denham’s money, Charlotte quickly discovers that not everyone is as they first appear.
