The full trailer for Game of Thrones Season 5 trailer has been released. And the women of Westeros are leading the way.
Carnage, conflict and, most of all, cunning are all on display, as we get a quick catch-up with the factions of Iron Throne contenders in the wake of Season 4’s finale.
Sansa now seems comfortably paired up with Littlefinger, who advises her that revenge is the only way to get justice – a fact that everyone is already well aware of. Daenerys Targaryen is well on the way in her quest for revolution. “I’m not going to stop the wheel,” she declares in the manner of someone delivering a bad-ass line that will definitely be featured in the trailer. “I’m going to break the wheel.” Arya is still heading off to Braavos. And get a glimpse of the The Sand Snakes, who will no doubt be on the way to visit King’s Landing following Oberyn’s escapades last season. And yes, they’ll be carrying whips.
The blokes of George RR Martin’s books do get a look in. How will the mourning Jaime react? What’s going on with Ser Jorah? Is Jon Snow about to face enough battle?
But it’s the prospect of more Varys and Tyrion that really excites, as they watch the various battle moves take place a few steps back from the front. Westeros will need a true leader, they agree. But who said anything about a him?
Game of Thrones will return to the UK on Monday 13th April, a few hours after its broadcast in the US. The latest trailer arrived during the IMAX screenings of Season 4’s final two episodes, which began taking place in America yesterday.
There are no plans to do the same in the UK at present, although the first episode of Season 5 will be shown in selected British cinemas. And, of course, Season 5 will also be streaming on Sky’s VOD service NOW, which allows you to watch Sky TV live online – and catch up, a la iPlayer – for £6.99 a month, no contract.
