Watch: New trailer for You Season 3

They’re just the nice, normal neighbours next door… right? Any hope for that disappears the moment you start watching the trailer for You Season 3, which sees Joe (Penn Badgley) settle down with his perfect partner – but simple domestic bliss is far from on the cards.
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, the show follows Joe, a book shop owner who, in Season 1, used the hyper connectivity of today’s technology to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him – and strategically removes every obstacle, and person, in his way. Season 2 was loosely based on Kepnes’ second novel, Hidden Bodies, and saw Goldberg head to Los Angeles, where he met Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House).
Season 3 sees Badgley and Pedretti return, along with Scott Speedman as Matthew, a CEO, husband and father, Travis Van Winkle as “master of self-optimisation” Cary, and Shalita Grant as momfluencer Sherry, plus Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’s Tati Gabrielle as librarian Marienne and Saffron Barrows, upped to a series regular, and Scott Michael Foster, a TV reporter and single dad with a controlling, calculating streak. And, next door, Michaela McManus as Joe’s married neighbour, Natalie, with whom he soon becomes obsessed. Where will that latest fixation lead? And will the arrival of a little boy called Henry have an impact on what Joe’s like?

Netflix renews You for Season 3
14th January 2020
Netflix has officially renewed You for Season 3.
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, the psychological thriller follows Joe (Penn Badgley), a book shop owner who uses the hyper connectivity of today’s technology to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him – and strategically removes every obstacle, and person, in his way. Season 1 co-starred Elizabeth Lail as the woman-of-his-dreams, Beck, and their twisting interactions and charismatic performances left viewers hooked.
Season 2 is loosely based on Kepnes’ second novel, Hidden Bodies, which sees Goldberg head to Los Angeles, where he meets Love, an aspiring chef who doesn’t care about social media. She’s also tending to a deep grief — so when she meets Joe she senses a shared knowledge of loss. Victoria Pedretti (The Haunting of Hill House) co-starred as Love Quinn, joined by Melanie Field as Sunrise, and Magda Apanowicz as Sandy, a woman from Joe’s past, plus Russian Doll’s Charlie Barnett as Gabe, Love’s best friend.
With the first season a hit, watched by 40 million Netflix users in its first month (according to their very generous metrics), Season 2 appears to have been a success too, repeatedly trending on Twitter over the Christmas holidays following its Boxing Day debut. Now, within a few weeks of that premiere, Netflix has already ordered a third season.
Season 3 will comprise 10 episodes again and will see Penn Badgley and Victoria Pedretti reprise their roles.
“It will be intriguing to see how she and Joe – her newly bent and broken perfect partner in crime – play off against each other in what could be a suburban horror story,” we wrote in our Season 2 review.
Co-creators Sera Gamble and Greg Berlanti will return as executive producers, with Gamble also back as showrunner. As for that cliffhanger ending? Penn Badgley has already shut down the fan theory that his new neighbour might be his mother.
