Netflix’s Sky Rojo renewed for Season 3

Sky Rojo will officially return to Netflix for Season 3.
The series, co-created by Money Heist’s Álex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato, follows Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito) and Gina (Yany Prado), three women who go on the run in search of freedom while being chased by Romeo (Asier Etxeandia), their pimp from Las Novias Club, and his henchmen, Moisés (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Christian (Enric Auquer). Together, the women embark on a frantic, chaotic journey during which they must face dangers of all kinds and live every second as if it were their last, while strengthening their friendship and discovering the most important thing: that together they are stronger and have more options to recover their lives.
The show, which describes its genre as “Latin pulp”, arrived in March this year, with a second season already greenlit. That followed swiftly in July and now, within weeks of that debut, the show’s official Twitter account has confirmed that the series will return for what sounds like it will be the third and final chapter – announcing the news with the tagline “la persecución final está por llegar” or “the final pursuit is yet to come”.

Sky Rojo will return to Netflix for a second season – and much sooner than you might expect.
The show, which describes its genre as “Latin pulp”, arrived on Netflix earlier this month – you can read our review here – with a second run already greenlit. Now, Netflix has confirmed when that return’s happening, with a release date announced as 23rd July.
First look: Netflix’s Sky Rojo set for March release

Stay alive for five more minutes. That’s the plan in Sky Rojo, Netflix’s new thriller from the creators of Money Heist.
Álex Pina, who has an overall deal with Netflix after the global success of the Spanish series, co-created Sky Rojo with Esther Martínez Lobato, with both serving as exec-producers alongside Jesús Colmenar. The series comprises eight 25-minute episodes and a mix of genres that Pina and Lobato have dubbed “Latin pulp”.
It follows Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito) and Gina (Yany Prado), three women who go on the run in search of freedom while being chased by Romeo (Asier Etxeandia), their pimp from Las Novias Club, and his henchmen, Moisés (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) and Christian (Enric Auquer). Together, the women embark on a frantic, chaotic journey during which they must face dangers of all kinds and live every second as if it were their last, while strengthening their friendship and discovering the most important thing: that together they are stronger and have more options to recover their lives.
“We wanted Sky Rojo to have the same frenetic action, but to use that 25-minute runtime to underline the dynamic nature of the plot: the getaway, the race for survival. The third act of a movie or an episode is where all the energy converges to produce the most vibrant explosion of all the conflicts that are being narrated. What we set out to do was to make a constant third act, to funnel our entire story through that frenzied energy,” say Pina and Lobato.
Netflix has already commissioned a second season, with Season 2 set to debut on 19th March. Here’s the video teasing the show and announcing its release date:
