Filming has completed on The Beast Must Die, and we’ve got a first look at Jared Harris and Cush Jump in BritBox’s first original scripted drama.
The five-part revenge thriller is produced by New Regency Television International and Ridley Scott’s Scott Free. It tells the story of a grieving mother who infiltrates the life of the man she believes killed her son. The stellar cast includes Jared Harris (Chernobyl, The Crown, Mad Men), Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight, Deadwater Fell), Billy Howle (MotherFatherSon, On Chesil Beach), Nathaniel Parker (The Inspector Lynley Mysteries) Geraldine James (Back to Life, Anne with an E), Maeve Dermody (Carnival Row, Marcella) and newcomers Mia Tomlinson and Barney Sayburn.
Directed by Dome Karukoski (Tolkien, Tom of Finland), produced by Sarada McDermott (Bridgerton, Official Secrets) and adapted for the screen by screenwriter Gaby Chiappe (Their Finest, Shetland, Vera), the production wrapped filming this week on Isle of Wight. The production adhered to comprehensive Covid-19 protocols, with 5,000 lab tests used on 190 members of cast and crew (in addition to testing around 700 supporting artists). This enabled the team to achieve the shooting schedule without any disruption, filming 600 hours over 61 days (nine of which were shot at sea) and across 69 different locations.
The drama will be available on BritBox UK in early 2021.
