Paramount+ has renewed Frasier for a second season.
The revival of the classic sitcom reintroduces us to Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) in the next chapter of his life – as he returns to Boston with new challenges to face, new relationships to forge and an old dream or two to finally fulfill.
The series stars Kelsey Grammer (reprising his role from the original show), who exec-produces alongside writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces), plus Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. As well as Grammer returning, the directing team for Season 1 included James Burrows, who is best known for his work as co-creator, executive producer and director of Cheers, as well as the original Frasier, Will & Grace and Dear John.
The series co-stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Freddy, Frasier’s son; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Freddy’s roommate; and Anders Keith as David, Frasier’s nephew. Season 1 also featured guest appearances from original series cast, including Bebe Neuwirth and Peri Gilpin.
Now, following its finale at the end of last year, Paramount+ has ordered a second run.
“Kelsey made a triumphant return as one of the most iconic and beloved characters on television,” said Jeff Grossman, Executive Vice President, Programming, Paramount+. “The new series introduced Frasier to a whole new generation while reminding fans of Kelsey’s truly timeless portrayal of Dr. Crane. We’re so excited to see what the creative team and superb cast serve up for Season 2.”
“Frasier is a love story, and I am very happy we will be allowed to continue it. I’m delighted that our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ are on board for another season, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store!” added Grammer.
Produced by CBS Studios, Season 2 will continue to film in front of a live studio audience at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.
