Harley Quinn is heading to E4 in the UK, as part of a new deal between Channel 4 and Warner Bros. TV.
The Mistress of Mayhem herself debuted a brand new animated comedy series on DC Universe last year, combining crazy fights and wisecracking jokes. Harley, voiced by Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory, 8 Simple Rules) is out of control and on a mission to make it as the criminal Queenpin of Gotham City, after having finally broken things off once and for all with the Joker. Harley is aided by Poison Ivy (Lake Bell – BoJack Horseman, Wet Hot American Summer) and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, as she tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of Doom!
Developed by Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker (Powerless, $#*! My Dad Says) and Dean Lorey (Powerless, Arrested Development), the series features an ensemble cast of recurring stars including Jason Alexander (Seinfeld, The Orville), Diedrich Bader (Veep), Lake Bell (Childrens Hospital), Andy Daly (Review, Adventure Time, Modern Family), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Ron Funches (Powerless), Tony Hale (Veep), Rahul Kohli (iZOMBIE), Christopher Meloni (Man of Steel), Will Sasso (MADtv, Mom), JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm), Wanda Sykes (Black-ish), Alan Tudyk (Doom Patrol) and more. Produced by Ehsugadee Productions and Yes, Normal Productions in association with Warner Bros. Animation, Harley Quinn is executive produced by Sam Register, Cuoco, Halpern, Schumaker and Lorey.
Distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, the new series now has a UK home and will air on E4 later this year. It joins fellow DC series Batwoman and Season 14 (and, later, 15) of Supernatural.
Karl Warner, Controller of E4, says: “At its best, E4 stands for brilliant action-packed entertainment, so kick starting the year is a groundbreaking new series of Batwoman followed by Harley Quinn, another brilliantly funny animation series that will build on the big success we’ve had with Rick and Morty.”
First look: DC Universe’s Harley Quinn
8th October 2018
“I though we were supposed to make a show that was, like, super-gritty and bleak and depressing. You know, like a DC thing.” That’s Lake Bell as Poison Ivy in the the first teaser trailer for DC Universe’s Harley Quinn.
The animated series is one of the first DC Universe originals to be released on the comics giant’s upcoming subscription platform. First announced in 2017, it follows the adventures of the Joker’s girlfriend and partner-in-crime, after she breaks up with the Joker and strikes out on her own. With the help of Poison Ivy and a ragtag crew of DC castoffs, Harley tries to earn a seat at the biggest table in villainy: the Legion of the Doom.
Kaley Cuoco (The Big Bang Theory) voices the criminal queenpin, with a voice cast that includes Tony Hale, Jason Alexander, Wanda Sykes, Lake Bell, Alan Tudyk, JB Smoove and Ron Funches.
The show is written and executive produced by Justin Halpern, Patrick Schumacker, and Dean Lorey. It will premiere on DC Universe in 2019. The first look was unveiled at New York Comic Con, and follows the news that Titans, DC’s live-action take on the Teen Titans franchise, will premiere outside of the US and China on Netflix. Whether that means Harley Quinn will do the same is yet to be confirmed.
