Emily in Paris will return to Netflix for two more seasons.
Written and exec-produced by Sex and the City creator Darren Star, the series follows Emily, an ambitious 20-something marketing executive from Chicago who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris when her company, the Gilbert Group, acquires a French luxury marketing company — and she is tasked with revamping their social media strategy. 58 million households around the world chose to watch the first season in its first 28 days on Netflix, making it the streamer’s most popular comedy series of 2020. It swiftly greenlit a second chapter, which arrived at the end of 2021.
In Season 2, now more entrenched in her life in Paris, Emily’s getting better at navigating the city but still struggling with the idiosyncrasies of French life. After stumbling into a love triangle with her neighbor and her first real French friend, Emily is determined to focus on her work — which is getting more complicated by the day. In French class, she meets a fellow expat who both infuriates and intrigues her.
“This strangely comforting second chapter of Netflix’s bubbly, well-dressed rom-com is the sugary escapism you’ve been looking for,” we wrote in our review.
107.6 million hours of Emily in Paris were viewed between 22nd December and 26th December, according to Netflix, with the first season also returning to its list of 10 most popular TV shows.
Now, within a month of Season 2’s debut, Netflix has renewed the show not only for a third season, but a fourth as well.
