Disney+ announces release dates for 2022 film slate

Disney+ marked its two-year anniversary this week with a day dedicated to new announcements and trailers. Among the videos and sneak peeks that were only available by signing up to Disney’s subscription service was a slew of confirmations of films on the way to Disney+ in 2022, including release dates, some vague and some specific.
Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the new animated adventure, will premiere on 3rd December.
Simon Pegg will be back as Buck in The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild an all-new movie, which features Buck, Crash and Eddie and a few new friends as they go on a prehistoric mission to save the Lost World from dinosaur domination. It premieres on 28th January.
Set in the avant-garde street-sneaker subculture of New York City, the high-energy, music-driven movie Sneakerella puts a gender-flipped twist on Cinderella. Sneakerella premieres exclusively on 18th February.
Gabrielle Union and Zach Braff’s reimagining of the hit family comedy Cheaper by the Dozen” will be coming to Disney+ in March 2022.
John Mulaney and Andy Samberg will star in live-action/CG animated feature Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers, based on everyone’s favorite animated chipmunks. That will arrive on Disney in spring 2022.
Based on the book by Tim Federle, Better Nate Than Ever will premiere on Disney+ in Spring 2022. The comedy adventure stars Aria Brooks, Joshua Bassett, Michelle Federer and introduces Rueby Wood as Nate, with Norbert Leo Butz and Lisa Kudrow.
Inspired by Disney’s animated classic, Robert Zemeckis’s Pinocchio combines live action and visual effects and stars Tom Hanks, Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans and the voices of Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Keegan-Michael Key and Lorraine Bracco. It premieres on Disney+ in autumn 2022.
Disenchanted, starring Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey, will also premiere in the autumn.
And, at an unknown date in 2022, will be Rodrick Rules, a second animated film from the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book series.
