Curzon has acquired Franco Lolli’s Litigante to release on Curzon Home Cinema this July.
The film follows a single mother who balances taking care of her mother during her fight with cancer while dealing with a corruption scandal at work. A stirring and honest tribute to motherhood, it’s told through the story of two generations of Columbian women played by the director’s own mother and cousin.
The film screened at Cannes International Critics’ Week in May 2019. The deal was negotiated with Grégoire Melin at Kinology and adds to a growing number of titles acquired during the coronavirus lockdown by the independent cinema operator, one of the few exhibitors in the UK to also have its own streaming platform.
Louisa Dent, MD of Curzon Artificial Eye, says: “Litigante is a stirring tribute to the joy and pain of motherhood and we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this wonderful film to audiences across the UK and Eire.”
Recent acquisitions include On A Magical Night (Christophe Honoré), released on 19th June, and The Girl with A Bracelet (Stéphane Demoustier), released on 26th June.
