Comedy slasher series Scream Queens is coming to E4 this autumn.
Ryan Murphy’s show, which just premiered in the US, has found itself an unexpected home on British soil. While the Glee creator’s other horror show, American Horror Story, screens over here on FOX UK, Channel 4 has stepped in to snap up the programme for its youth entertainment channel.
Part black comedy, part slasher flick, the series stars Emma Roberts as Chanel Oberlin, who rules over university sorority Kappa House with an iron fist (in a pink glove). Way back in 1995, the sorority was hit by a string of unexpected murders from the “Red Devil” killer. But on the 20th anniversary, just as anti-Kappa Dean Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) decrees that sorority pledging shouled be opened up to all students, the masked killer emerges once again.
Who will survive? And, more importantly, who is behind that mask?
Co-created with Brad Falchuk (Glee, American Horror Story) and Ian Brennan (Glee), Murphy’s series is similar to American Horror Story in format: Season 1 is just the beginning of an anthology, with any surviving people going on to star in the next season, set in a new place with a new terror.
The show certainly has a lot of impressive names to choose from. In addition to Scream Queen Numero Uno Curtis and Scream 4’s Roberts, the cast includes Glee’s Lea Michele (Glee, New Year’s Eve), Little Miss Sunshine’s Abigail Breslin, Episodes’ Lucien Laviscount, pop star Nick Jonas and Grammy nominee Ariana Grande.
There is no confirmed UK air date for Scream Queens, but the good news is that it will be available to catch up with on-demand for free through All 4.
