Better Call Saul air date confirmed with US double-bill

The Better Call Saul air date has been confirmed as Sunday 8th February in the US – with Netflix UK not far behind.
The prequel to Breaking Bad will see Bob Odernkirk return as everyone’s favourite dodgy lawyer, but before he became involved with Bryan Cranston’s Walter White: back when Saul Goodman went by another name… Jimmy McGill.
The series will premiere on Sunday 8th February on AMC at 10pm, followed by a second episode on Monday 9th February at 10pm. This is AMC’s first ever two-night series premiere, a piece of event scheduling that is only fitting for the much-anticipated spin-off to one of television’s most talked about shows.
“Known to Breaking Bad fans as Saul Goodman, viewers will soon discover Saul wasn’t always Albuquerque’s top criminal (criminal) lawyer,” AMC president Charlie Collier said, when announcing the double-bill start date.
“Huge thanks to Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Bob Odenkirk, our partners at Sony, and the entire team. We’re thrilled to be cooking together again.”
When will Better Call Saul premiere in the UK? Netflix has previously announced that the UK air date will be “shortly after” its US broadcast. When the final season of Breaking Bad premiered in 2013, episodes were added to the UK streaming service within 24 hours of the American release, so it is highly likely that the same tactic will be adopted. Indeed, a growing number of TV shows are now premiering in the UK within a day of their original broadcast to close down the piracy window for eager fans.
A UK premiere on Monday 9th February seems probable, then, perhaps with both episodes released at once – with each episode added on a weekly basis from then on.
What we do know about Better Call Saul, though, is that Season 1 will span 10 one-hour episodes, that the series will consist of 85 per cent drama, 15 per cent comedy, and that Jonathan Banks wil return as Mike Ehrmentraut, alongside Spinal Tap’s Michael McKean as Saul’s brother, Chuck, Rhea Seehorn as Kim, Patrick Fabian as Hamlin and Michael Mando as Nacho.
Also, we know that this Better Call Saul song exists. It’s a very good song.
A second season of Better Call Saul has already been commissioned. It will consist of 13 episodes.
