Vince Vaughn is heading to Apple TV+ for new series Bad Monkey.
The 10-episode drama is based on Carl Hiaasen’s bestselling 2013 novel of the same name. It tells the story of Andrew Yancy (played by Vaughn), a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. A severed arm found by a tourist out fishing pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. And yes, there’s a monkey.
The series is written by Bill Lawrence (Scrubs), who will executive produce through his Doozer Productions alongside Matt Tarses and Jeff Ingold. Liza Katzer will serve as co-executive producer. Vaughn will also serve as executive producer. The project hails from Warner Bros Television, where Lawrence is under an overall deal.
Apple has given a full series order, which comes hot on the heels of the Season 2 premiere of Ted Lasso, which is co-created by Lawrence and recently made history as the most Emmy-nominated freshman comedy series ever, with 20 nods in total.
