Awkwafina and Sandra Oh are teaming up for a new Netflix comedy.
The untitled film follows a lonely recluse whose life is upended when her train wreck of a sister vows to help her fulfil her lifelong ambition: be a contestant on her favourite game show.
The film is written y Jen D’Angelo, who has penned the upcoming Hocus Pocus sequel for Disney+. It is produced by Jessica Elbaum and Will Ferrell for Gloria Sanchez alongside Itay Reiss and Maggie Haskins for Artists First, as well as D’Angelo, Awkwafina, and Oh.
The project was announced by Netflix this week, and comes as both Awkwafina and Sandra Oh are enjoying stellar runs. Oh has been picking up Golden Globe and Emmy attention for her lead role in Killing Eve, while Awkwafina was nominated for a Golden Globe for The Farewell and has just debuted her first series, Awkwafina is Nora From Queens, on BBC Three.
Neither are strangers to Netflix, with Oh having voiced a character in Netflix’s Over the Moon and Awkwafina having appeared in both Tuca & Bertie and Dude.
