Amy Adams and Adam McKay are teaming up for Kings of America, a new drama for Netflix.
The series centres on the stories of three powerful women whose lives were inextricably intertwined with the world’s largest company: a Walmart heiress, a maverick executive, and a longtime Walmart saleswoman and preacher who dared to fight against the retail giant in the biggest class action lawsuit in US history.
Amy Adams will take one of the lead roles and also exec-produce the series through her production company Bond Group Entertainment along with Stacy O’Neil. Adam McKay (Succession, Vice) is attached to direct the first episode and executive produce along with Betsy Koch via Hyperobject Industries.
The project marks a reunion between the two after they worked together on Vice and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. The series is created by Jess Kimball Leslie, who will serve as writer and exec-producer. Kimball is a journalist and author of I Love My Computer Because My Friends Live In It. Emmy-nominee Diana Son (Genius: Aretha, 13 Reasons Why) will also exec-produce and serve as showrunner. Brunson Green is also on board as executive producer.
