Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company has inked a first-look deal with Apple TV+.
DiCaprio is no stranger to streaming, having exec-produced the Netflix docuseries Fire Chasers and feature film doc Virunga. He will also produce Barry Jenkins’ dramatic feature based on Virunga, which is also in the works at Netflix.
He’s also built a relationship with Apple TV+, collaborating on the upcoming Martin Scorsese film Killers of the Flower Moon and Shining Girls, the recently announced thriller starring Elisabeth Moss.
Now, he’s taking that relationship one step further with his production company Appian Way Productions inking a first-look deal with Apple. Founded by the Inception star and co-run by Jennifer Davisson, the company will develop TV projects and documentary features for streaming service Apple TV+ in a pact that will run for multiple years.
Appian Way joins a number of stars and star-led companies with deals in place at Apple’s fledgling streaming platform, including Idris Elba, Alfonso Cuaron, Sharon Horgan, Simon Kinberg, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Justin Lin.
