Amazon’s Neighbours revival to end in 2025

Amazon will bring its Neighbours revival to an end at the close of 2025, it has announced.
The long-running Australian soap opera – about the lives, loves, and challenges of the residents on Ramsay Street in Erinsborough, Australia, a fictional suburb of Melbourne – has been a presence on UK screens for decades. A couple of years ago, though, it finished, with millions tuning in to watch the finale on Channel 5 in the UK.
That attention prompted Amazon to step in and revive the series and make it free to watch through its Amazon Freevee brand – an ad-supported service accessed through the Prime Video platform. A year and half after it started up once again in September 2023, though, Amazon has now announced that it has effectively cancelled the show once more, although it will continue to air episodes through the rest of this year.
Amazon has officially called the move a “rest” in a statement on social media: “We are sad to announce that Neighbours will be resting from December 2025. New episodes from the 40th anniversary season will continue to air on Prime Video and Ten four times a week until the end of the year, with all the big soapie twists and turns that our viewers love.”
“Audiences all around the world have loved and embraced Neighbours for four decades and we are very proud of the huge success over the last two years including often appearing as one of the Top 10 titles in the UK and the show’s first ever Daytime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Daytime Series in 2024,” said Jason Herbison, Neighbours Executive Producer.
“As this chapter closes, we appreciate and thank Amazon MGM Studios for all that they have done for Neighbours – bringing this iconic and much-loved series to new audiences globally.
“We value how much the fans love Neighbours and we believe there are more stories of the residents of Ramsay Street to tell in the future.”
