“Love tests us. I’ve been tested more than most. This is the last time.” That’s the sound of Netflix going back to where it all began for the fifth and final season of You – and a new trailer gives us a closer glimpse of the show’s last chapter.
Based on Caroline Kepnes’ best-selling novel of the same name, the psychological thriller follows a book shop owner who, in Season 1, used the hyper connectivity of today’s technology to make the woman of his dreams fall in love with him – and strategically removed every obstacle, and person, in his way. After a notable repositioning of that premise in the subsequent two seasons, Season 4 picked up with Joe on the back foot in London, as someone else began to target him. It ended with Joe looking to New York for another new start, with a renewed understanding and awareness of himself.
Season 5 picks up three years after Joe and Kate (Charlotte Ritchie) left London for New York City. Kate is now CEO of the Lockwood Corporation, Joe is her loyal husband who has been dubbed Prince Charming by the adoring public, and they’re both following through on their pact to help each other do good. But reconciling who Joe has been with who he wants to be is an ongoing project.
The season co-stars Madeline Brewer as Bronte, a young woman who makes him reconsider his affluent life, Griffin Matthews as Teddy Lockwood, Joe’s snarky yet loyal brother-in-law, and Anna Camp as Raegan and Maddie Lockwood, Joe’s twin sisters-in-law.
You can see them all in action on 24th April, when Season 5 premieres on Netflix.

You renewed for fifth and final season
25th March 2023
You will officially return for a fifth and final season, Netflix has confirmed.
Now, a few weeks after the debut of Season 4’s second half, Netflix has ordered one last chapter.
“[We’ve] always conceived it as a five season journey,” executive producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter said in a statement.
“I think it sets us up to actually have a really great finale season,” said Badgley. “Can his inner monologue evolve some now? What does it mean for him to accept himself?”
Executive producer Sera Gamble, who created You with Berlanti, is stepping down as showrunner for Season 5. Longtime writers on the series Michael Foley and Justin W Lo will take over showrunning duties.
