Amazon has ordered a new detective drama from Robert Downey Jr, Susan Downey (The Brave One, Gothika) and Adam Perlman.
The series, which is currently untitled, is adapted from Michael Lista’s Toronto Life article The Sting. Based on true events, it follows a Canadian detective who takes on a decades-old cold case with the aim of winning a confession and becoming a hero. But an undercover sting spirals dramatically out of control.
Amazon Studios has given a straight-to-series order from Robert Downey Jr and Susan Downey’s Team Downey and Adam Perlman. Robert, Susan and Amanda Burrell will exec-produce for Team Downey, which currently produces HBO’s recently renewed Perry Mason and recently produced the movie Dolittle. Perlman, who has worked on Billions and previously written The Newsroom and The Good Wife, will serve as writer as well as an exec-producer, while Lista is on board as a co-EP. Downey Jr is reportedly eyeing a supporting role in the drama.
