Amazon acquires UK rights to The Bold Type

Amazon has acquired the exclusive U.K. TV rights to hit US show The Bold Type.
The fashion comedy-drama, inspired by the life of former Cosmopolitan Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles, follow three spirited young women in their 20s working for a global women’s magazine based in New York City
The magazine? Scarlet, run by high-powered Editor-in-Chief Jacqueline (Melora Hardin, Transparent). The rising generation of Scarlet women lean on one another as they find their own voices in a sea of intimidating leaders. Together, they explore sexuality, identity, love and fashion.
The series stars Katie Stevens (Faking it) as Jane, Aisha Dee (Chasing Life) as Kat, Meghann Fahy (Political Animals) as Sutton. The series also stars Sam Page (House of Cards) and Matt Ward (Remedy).
Season 1 of The Bold Type is executive produced by Sarah Watson (Parenthood), David Bernad (Superstore), Joanna Coles and Ruben Fleischer (Superstore, Zombieland). Holly Whidden is a co-executive producer. The series is a Universal Television and The District production, and has already been renewed for a second season.
“The Bold Type is an entertaining, fast-paced and timely TV show and we’re delighted to be launching it exclusively on Prime Video in the UK, Germany, France and Spain. This is the latest in a line-up of shows on Prime Video with strong female protagonists at their core including, most recently, The Marvelous Mrs Maisel which won two Golden Globe awards earlier this month,” comments Jay Marine, VP Prime Video EU.
All 10 episodes of the first season will launch on Amazon Prime Video on 9th February. Season 2 will arrive later this year.
