James Bond Movie Title Generator – can you do better than SPECTRE?
James R | On 04, Dec 2014
The title for the 24th James Bond movie has been announced – and it will be called SPECTRE.
“Some of you will probably have an idea of what that refers to, but I couldn’t possibly comment,” said Sam Mendes at the press event this morning at Pinewood Studios.
The word is a clear statement of intent for the movie, which goes right back to the days of Ernst Stavro Blofeld, whom is rumoud to be played by Christoph Waltz.
The cast was also confirmed by Mendes, with Ralph Fiennes taking over from Judi Dench as M, Naomie Harris returning as Moneypenny, Ben Whishaw back as Q and Rory Kinnear reprising his role as Tanner. Joining the familiar faces will be Léa Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Monica Bellucci and Andrew Scott as Denbigh and – yes – Christopher Waltz as… “Oberhauser”. Oh, and Daniel Craig as James Bond.
Behind the camera, the line-up is equally impressive, with Roger Deakins’ Director of Photography chair filled by none other than Hoyte van Hoytema, who worked on Let the Right One In and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
And what of the plot? Here’s the official Bond 24 / SPECTRE synopsis:
A cryptic message from Bond’s past sends him on a trail to uncover a sinister organisation. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond peels back the layers of deceit to reveal the terrible truth behind SPECTRE.
SPECTRE begins principal photography on Monday, December 8, and is set for global release on November 6, 2015. You can now watch an on-demand recording of the announcement on YouTube here:
