With Pennyworth debuting last month and DC Universe’s Doom Patrol arriving in January, the relatively new VOD service STARZPLAY is starting to step up its streaming game. This December, it drops three new series, including Sanctuary and Instinto, but the star of the month is without a doubt the TV adaptation of Richard Curtis’ rom-com Four Weddings and a Funeral. They join the recently added supernatural drama The Rook, which debuted on Virgin in the UK last year.
Here’s what’s coming soon to STARZPLAY in December 2019:
Primal Fear – out now
An altar boy is accused of murdering a priest, and the truth is buried several layers deep.
Revolutionary Road – out now
A young couple living in a Connecticut suburb during the mid-1950s struggle to come to terms with their personal problems while trying to raise their two children.
The Switch – out now
Seven years after the fact, a man comes to the realisation that he was the sperm donor for his best friend’s boy.
Sanctuary: Season 1 – 5th December
What could be worse than being imprisoned in a locked-down clinic where nothing is what it seems, and nobody believes you are who you say you are? How about beginning to suspect that they’re right? “Sanctuary” is a suspenseful psychological thriller that deals with the defining human issues of survival, identity, trust and betrayal in a story that asks the audience: Who would you become in order to survive?
Instinto: Season 1 – 5th December
Marco Mur is an attractive, successful businessman, but a trauma from his past prevents him from getting emotionally involved with women. Instead, he has intimate encounters in a club where no one knows anyone else. But when his past returns Marco is forced to face it and all the other conflicts in his life.
Four Weddings and a Funeral: Season 1 – 12th December
When Maya (Natalie Emmanuel), the young communications director for a New York senatorial campaign, receives a wedding invitation from her college schoolmate now living in London she leaves her professional and personal life behind. Traveling to England she reconnects with her old friends and ends up in the midst of their personal crises. Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and
doused, and of course, there are four weddings… and a funeral.
STARZPLAY costs £4.99 a month and is available on Virgin Media On Demand and through Amazon Prime Video Channels, both as an add-on subscription to your existing account. It is also available as an app on iOS and Android devices and through Apple TV.
