Droughtland is officially over this month, as STARZPLAY becomes the official home for time-travel romance series Outlander, back for its sixth season. It’s joined by horror comedy Shining Vale, the finale of dystopian drama Station Eleven on 20th March and your friendly neighbourhood web-slinger.
Here’s what’s coming to STARZPLAY in March 2022:
Spider-Man 2 – 1st March
Peter Parker is beset with troubles in his failing personal life as he battles a brilliant scientist named Doctor Otto Octavius.
Tower Heist – 1st March
When a group of hard-working guys find out they’ve fallen victim to their wealthy employer’s Ponzi scheme, they conspire to rob his high-rise residence.
Outlander: Season 6 – 6th March
The sixth season of Outlander sees a continuation of Claire and Jamie’s fight to protect those they love, as they navigate the trials and tribulations of life in colonial America. Establishing a home in the New World is by no means an easy task, particularly in the wild backcountry of North Carolina – and perhaps most significantly – during a period of dramatic political upheaval. The Frasers strive to maintain peace and flourish within a society which – as Claire knows all too well – is unwittingly marching towards Revolution. Against this backdrop, which heralds the birth of the new American nation, Claire and Jamie have built a home together at Fraser’s Ridge. They must now defend this home – established on land granted to them by the Crown – not only from external forces, but also from the increasing strife and conflict in the community within their care. Episodes arrive weekly.
Shining Vale – 6th March
Pat (Courteney Cox) and Terry Phelps (Greg Kinnear) cash in their life savings and move from a cramped apartment in Brooklyn, to an old Victorian mansion in Shining Vale, Connecticut as a last-ditch effort to save their marriage after Pat’s torrid affair with their young hot handyman. A former “wild child” who rose to fame by writing a raunchy, drug-and-alcohol-soaked women’s empowerment novel (a.k.a. lady porn), Pat is now clean and sober 17 years later but totally unfulfilled. She can’t remember the last time she had sex with her husband, and her teenage kids want nothing to do with her. Buying a 200-year-old house for a fraction of the asking price seemed like a good idea on paper, but Pat senses that the Phelps are not alone and starts to wonder if she is depressed or possessed? Turns out, the symptoms are the same. The first two episodes arrive together, then new episodes drop weekly.
Ex Machina – 27th March
A young programmer (Domhnall Gleeson) at an Internet company is chosen to evaluate the capabilities and consciousness of a beautiful and sophisticated robot (Alicia Vikander).
Deepwater Horizon – 29th March
On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg (Lone Survivor), this story honours the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.
STARZPLAY costs £4.99 a month. The platform is available on iOS, Android, Apple TV and Virgin Media On Demand or through Amazon Prime Video Channels, as an add-on subscription to your existing account.
