What’s coming soon to STARZPLAY UK in October 2020?

As one of the smaller streaming platforms in the UK, STARZPLAY struggles when it comes to having a large enough library to compete with Netflix or Amazon Prime Video. It has to therefore focus on quality over quantity, and 2020 has been a promising proof of that strategy’s success, with Doom Patrol joined by Stephen King’s Castle Rock and Jimmi Simpson noir thriller Perpetual Grace Ltd.
October continues its strong run with exclusive weekly episodes of Power Book II and the High Fidelity series, as well as STARZ original The Spanish Princess Part 2, but it’s also benefitting from Lionsgate’s library, with The Hunger Games franchise and Mad Men both arriving.
Here’s what’s coming soon to STARZPLAY in October 2020:
The Hunger Games – 1st October
STARZPLAY bags the full box set of the young adult franchise, which sees Jennifer Lawrence on excellent form as Katnis Everdeen, the unwitting leader of a rebellion in a dystopia that forces young people to combat each other once a year.
Angel Has Fallen – 4th October
Gerard Butler returns for the best in the “Has Fallen” franchise, as authorities take Secret Service agent Mike Banning into custody for the failed assassination attempt of US President Allan Trumbull, leaving him trying to prove his innocence and find the real threat.
The Capture: Season 1 – 9th October
BBC One’s timely conspiracy thriller explores pressing questions about surveillance and misinformation. Set in London, the modern-day spy show begins with the arrest of a former soldier, which spirals into a complex conspiracy involving manipulated video evidence. The series is written, directed and executive produced by BAFTA Award winner Ben Chanan.
The Spanish Princess: Part 2 – 11th October
The Spanish Princess is the third instalment of the limited series follow-up to the STARZ Original miniseries The White Queen and The White Princess. The series is drawn from the global best-selling novels, The Constant Princess and The King’s Curse, written by Philippa Gregory. The second and concluding part of The Spanish Princess continues the story of Queen Catherine and Henry VIII, who preside over the most glamorous court in Europe and are beloved by their people. Together they create an England that is proud, confident and strong enough to withstand threat from abroad. Catherine’s struggle to produce an heir places her marriage and position in the court at risk, and she is haunted by her choices from the past. Despite proving herself a politician, a diplomat, a national inspiration and even a military commander, Catherine must battle to save her love with the King, and to preserve the peace and prosperity of their reign.
A Simple Favour – 15th October
Stephanie is a widowed, single mother who works as a vlogger in Connecticut. When her best friend mysteriously disappears one day, Stephanie launches her own investigation by digging into the woman’s past — and finding a few surprises along the way.
Mad Men: Season 1 to 7 – 22nd October
Set in 1960 New York City, in an unexpected new world – the high-powered and glamorous Golden Age of advertising – where everyone is selling something and nothing is ever what you expect it to be. The drama unfolds around Don Draper (Jon Hamm), the biggest ad man in the business. As he calls the shots in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels.
