Luke Cage. Sense8. GLOW. Summer is off to a spectacular start for Netflix UK, with some of its biggest and best original series returning for their second seasons – or, in the case of the unique sci-fi epic Sense8, it’s final farewell. But it’s in between the high profile originals that the real gems lie this month, from a bit of Doctor Who and its overlooked spin-off Class to Robert Redford’s All Is Lost, Derren Brown’s latest special, teen comedy The Edge of Seventeen and 2016’s hilarious, underrated Ghostbusters reboot. All that and a dose of Planet Earth? Who says June is a month for going outside in the sun?

Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in June 2018:

November 13: Attack on Paris – 1st June

Survivors and first responders share tales of horror, kindness and bravery that unfolded in Paris amid the deadly terror attacks of Nov. 13, 2015.

You Me Her: Season 3 – 1st June

Emma, Jack and Izzy face big decisions about parenthood, their careers and whether they’re meant to be together.

Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami – 1st June

This electrifying journey through the public and private worlds of pop culture mega-icon Grace Jones contrasts musical sequences with intimate personal footage, all the while brimming with Jones’s bold aesthetic.

The Edge of Seventeen – 2nd June

Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) and Krista (Haley Lu Richardson) are inseparable best friends attempting to navigate high school together… until Nadine’s older brother Darian (Blake Jenner) and Krista begin dating.

Class: Season 1 – 3rd June

BBC Three’s Doctor Who spin-off may have been cancelled, but there’s more than enough in Patrick Ness’ teen drama to make it worth catching up with, from the rounded characters and witty humour to the grisly action – even if the overall villains did leave the show wanting.

Ghostbusters (2016) – 7th June

This highly entertaining reboot of the paranormal franchis, starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig, is so busy doing its own thing that it’s impossible to hate. Watch out for Kate McKinnon, whose scene-stealing turn is destined to live on in memes and fan fantasies for years.

Sense8: The Series Finale – 8th June

In the sweeping series finale, passions run high as the Sensates and their closest allies fight to save the cluster and stop their enemies for good.

Alex Strangelove – 8th June

High school senior Alex Truelove is on a mission to lose his virginity, much to the excitement of his patient girlfriend and rowdy friends.

Ali’s Wedding – 8th June

After telling a white lie that spins out of control, the son of an Iraqi-born cleric in Melbourne becomes torn between family duty and his own heart.

The Staircase – 8th June

This documentary series offers a revealing inside look at the high-profile murder case of author Michael Peterson, accused of killing his wife in 2001.

Treehouse Detectives – 8th June

What happened to the snowman? Where did all the caterpillars go? A brother and sister bear detective team solves all their neighborhood’s mysteries in this kids animated series.

The Hollow – 8th June

Three teens join forces to find a way home after waking up in a bizarre world filled with mysterious portals, odd characters and vicious beasts.

Planet Earth II – 11th June

David Attenborough’s BBC documentary is not only a dazzling, gripping portrait of the natural world, but an important reminder of why we need to work to safeguard it.

Champions – 12th June

Years after impregnating his girlfriend, washed-up jock Vince meets his eccentric son Michael and learns about fatherhood, one show tune at a time.

Marlon – 14th June

An internet superstar with an big personality, Marlon is challenged in the maturity department. But what he lacks in judgment is made up for in heart.

Queer Eye: Season 2 – 15th June

The Vietnam War: A Film by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick – 20th June

The Vietnam War is a ten-part, 18-hour documentary film series directed by Ken Burns and Lynn Novick.
