What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in April 2021?

What do Idris Elba, Sarah Paulson, Anna Kendrick, Dolly Parton, Octavia Spencer, Jamie Foxx and Lady Gaga have in common? They’re all coming to Netflix UK this April, in a month that veers from survival sci-fi thriller to family entertainment. Elba’s poignant drama Concrete Cowboy brings a festival hit to worldwide audiences, while Paulson stars in Hulu’s Run, the latest from Searching director Aneesh Chaganty. Anna Kendrick takes to space for survival drama Stowaway, while Octavia Spencer teams up with Melissa McCarthy for superhero comedy Thunder Force, Jamie Foxx teams up with his daughter for the comedy series Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!, and Lady Gaga teams up with Bradley Cooper for 2018’s A Star Is Born. As for Dolly Parton? Well, she’s just being celebrated for being awesome.

Worn Stories: Season 1 – 1st April
Based on the New York Times Best Seller, Worn Stories opens the closets of a diverse group of people to reveal a treasure-trove of tales about the meaning behind articles of clothing. Be it a pair of boots symbolizing survival, a dress that’s come to stand for recovery, or a uniform that reaffirms an identity.
Tersanjung: The Movie – 1st April
This genre-bending series puts a modern twist on Greek and Roman mythology, exploring themes of gender politics, power and life in the underworld.
Wild Bill – 1st April
Dexter Fletcher’s East London Western is mature, articulate and generally brilliant.
Prank Encounters: Season 2 – 1st April
Gaten Matarazzo returns for another round of Netflix pranks.
Concrete Cowboy – 2nd April
Directed by Rick Staub and starring Idris Elba, this film follows 15-year-old Cole (Caleb McLaughlin), who discovers the world of urban horseback riding when his mother sends him to North Philadelphia to live with his dad, Harp, played by Elba. Based on the novel Ghetto Cowboy by G Neri and co-written by Staub.
Run – 2nd April
Sarah Paulson stars in the latest from Aneesh Chaganty, the director of the inventive thriller Searching. There’s something unnatural about the relationship between the pair, with Diane raising her daughter in isolation, controlling every move since birth. But after years of intense, scrutinised medical care, teenager Chloe desires freedom and suspects her mother might be holding her back.
Bitter Daisies: Season 2 – 2nd April
While investigating the disappearance of a teen girl in a Galician town, a Civil Guard officer uncovers secrets linked to a loss of her own in this Spanish crime drama.
Madame Claude – 2nd April
In 1960s Paris, Madame Claude’s influence extends beyond the world of sex work — until an affluent young woman threatens to change everything.

The Mitchells vs the Machines – 30th April
