Disney’s Netflix rival is here, serving up Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar originals, along with a post-modern revamp of High School Musical and every episode of The Simpsons.

This month sees Disney+ head into spooky territory, with the UK TV premiere of American Horror Story Season 10, as well as the debut of its new RL Stine anthology horror Just Beyond. There are also Halloween specials from The Muppets and LEGO Star Wars, plus a chance to catch up with the TV show What We Do in the Shadows. And, for those looking for something non-scary, there’s the chance to stream Marvel’s Black Widow without paying a Premier Access fee.

LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales – 1st October

After the events of The Rise of Skywalker, Poe and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar, where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt who has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel.

What We Do in the Shadows: Season 1 and 2 (Star) – 6th October

This wonderfully silly comedy transforms vampire horror into flatshare sitcom.

Black Widow – 6th October

Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

Hip Hop Uncovered (Star) – 6th October

Hip Hop Uncovered reveals the untold story of how America’s streets helped shape hip hop culture from an expression of survival and defiance into music’s most dominant genre. The documentary series takes a deep dive into the paradox of America’s criminalisation of the genre and its fascination with the street culture that created it and still exists within it.

Among the Stars – 6th October

Among The Stars is a six-part docuseries with fly on the wall access into the wider world of NASA, with cameras on Earth and in space. NASA astronaut Captain Chris Cassidy is on a quest to get back in his spacesuit for one last mission. This series follows Chris and the wider team who take on missions that risk life, limb and reputation for the greater good of humankind. Join them as their missions unfold. All episodes arrive together.

Muppets Haunted Mansion – 8th October

In Muppets Haunted Mansion, world-famous daredevil The Great Gonzo takes on the greatest challenge of his life by spending the night in the scariest place on Earth: the Haunted Mansion. Teamed with his friend Pepé the King Prawn, this musical comedy reunites Kermit and the entire Muppets gang, who portray the beloved grim grinning ghosts of the Haunted Mansion in this star-studded, frightfully funny Muppets adventure.

Hidden Figures (Star) – 8th October

This wonderfully uplifting true story is irresistibly feel-good.

Logan (Star) – 8th October

This dark, grizzled thriller is a violent punch to the face of superhero movie convention – and a moving end to Hugh Jackman’s run as Wolverine.

Reservation Dogs: Season 1 (Star) – 13th October

From Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, Reservation Dogs is a half-hour comedy series that follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, faraway land of California. The show’s first-of-its kind Indigenous creative team invites audiences into a surprisingly familiar and funny world. The series stars D’Pharoah Woon-A-Ta, Devery Jacobs, Paulina Alexis and Lane Factor. Episode 1 and 2 arrive together, then new episodes arrive weekly.

Just Beyond: Season 1 – 13th October

Inspired by the writings of R.L. Stine, Just Beyond is an eight-episode anthology series that tells astonishing and thought-provoking stories of a reality just beyond the one we know. Each episode introduces viewers to a new cast of characters who must go on a surprising journey of self-discovery in a supernatural world of witches, aliens, ghosts and parallel universes. All episodes arrive at once.

American Horror Story: Season 10 (Star) – 20th October

In American Horror Story: Double Feature, a struggling writer, his pregnant wife, and their daughter move to an isolated beach town for the winter. As they settle in, the town’s true residents make themselves known. American Horror Story: Double Feature is the 10th instalment of the horror anthology created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Episodes arrive weekly.

Books of Blood (Star) – 29th October

This anthology horror film, directed by Brannon Braga, is based on Books of Blood by Clive Barker.
