What’s coming soon to Disney+ UK in May 2024?

Disney+ returns to Wrexham this May, with other familiar faces this month including Monsters at Work and Abbott Elementary. There’s also a double-bill of music in the form of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, plus a slice of Star Wars and a serving of Sean Bean.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Disney+ in May 2024:
Shardlake – 1st May
The year is 1536. Lawyer Matthew Shardlake finds his life turned upside down when Thomas Cromwell sends him to investigate a suspicious death at the remote monastery of Scarnsea. Deception, deceit, and corruption are rife as it soon becomes clear that the murder is not the first. Shardlake is drawn into a web of lies that threatens not only his integrity but his life. This compelling whodunnit is based on the internationally popular Tudor murder mystery novels by CJ Sansom. All episodes arrive at once.
9-1-1: Season 7 – 1st May
Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear reimagine the procedural drama with “9-1-1.” The series explores the high-pressure experiences of first responders — including police officers, firefighters and dispatchers — who are thrust into the most frightening, shocking and heart-stopping situations. These emergency responders must try to balance saving those who are at their most vulnerable with solving the problems in their own lives. The show draws from real-life, high-pressure experiences of first responders who regularly face heart-stopping situations that are often unpredictable, intense and uplifting at the same time. Episodes arrive weekly.
Prom Dates – 3rd May
This comedy film follows best friends Jess and Hannah, who made a pact at 13 to have the perfect senior prom. Despite the impending changes that college will bring over the next four years, the two are committed to honoring their prom pact. But with only 24 hours left before the big event, everything falls apart when they break up with each of their dates. Jess and Hannah are left with one night to find new dates and live out their middle-school fantasies.
Welcome to Wrexham: Season 3 – 3rd May
In 2020, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds teamed up to purchase the 5th tier Wrexham Football Club in the hopes of creating an underdog story the whole world could root for. The world took notice and change is afoot. After 15 painful seasons in the National League, the Club finally achieved promotion back into the English Football League. Will Wrexham AFC stand up to the challenge and rise again? Episodes 1 and 2 arrive together, followed by episodes weekly.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire: Season 1 – 4th May
This six-episode journey into the fearsome Galactic Empire follows two warriors on divergent paths, set during different eras. After losing everything, young Morgan Elsbeth navigates the expanding Imperial world toward a path of vengeance, while former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she must to survive a rapidly changing galaxy. The choices they make will define their destinies. All episodes arrive at once.
Monsters at Work: Season 2 – 5th May
In Season 2 of Monsters at Work, Tylor Tuskmon’s journey as a Jokester and his friendship with Val face the ultimate test. When new doors of opportunity unexpectedly open at rival energy company FearCo, Tylor’s co-workers at Monsters Inc. begin to question where his loyalties truly lie. As his Laugh Floor partnership with Val is pushed to the brink, Tylor must discover where he really belongs. All episodes arrive at once.
Abbott Elementary: Season 3, Part 1 – 8th May
In this workplace comedy, a group of dedicated, passionate teachers — and a slightly tone-deaf principal — are brought together in a Philadelphia public school where, despite the odds stacked against them, they are determined to help their students succeed in life. Though these incredible educators may be outnumbered and underfunded, they love what they do — even if they don’t love the school district’s less-than-stellar attitude toward educating children. All episodes of Part 1 arrive at once.
Let It Be – 8th May
First released in May 1970 amid the swirl of The Beatles’ breakup, Let It Be now takes its rightful place in the band’s history. Once viewed through a darker lens, the film is now brought to light through a new restoration and in the context of revelations brought forth in Peter Jackson’s docuseries, The Beatles: Get Back. Let It Be contains footage not featured in Get Back, bringing viewers into the studio and onto Apple Corps’ London rooftop in January 1969 as The Beatles, joined by Billy Preston, write and record their album Let It Be, with its title song, and perform live for the final time as a group.
The Kardashians: Season 5 – 23rd May
Just when you think life can’t get any faster in the Kardashian-Jenner family, they punch it into overdrive. From the big screen to baby bliss, the family continues to defy expectations in all their endeavors. Cameras roll as Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, and Kylie navigate contentious sister dynamics, all under the watchful eye of everyone’s favourite matriarch, Kris. Episodes arrive weekly.
The Beach Boys – 24th May
The Beach Boys is a celebration of the legendary band that revolutionized pop music, and the iconic, harmonious sound they created that personified the California dream, captivating fans for generations and generations to come. The documentary traces the band from humble family beginnings and features never-before-seen footage and all-new interviews with The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks, Bruce Johnston, plus other luminaries in the music business, including Lindsey Buckingham, Janelle Monáe, Ryan Tedder, and Don Was. Viewers will also hear from the group’s Carl and Dennis Wilson in their own words, plus view a new interview with Blondie Chaplin and hear audio from Ricky Fataar. A Kennedy/Marshall and White Horse Pictures Production, the film is directed by Frank Marshall and Thom Zimny and written by Mark Monroe.
Camden: Season 1 – Date TBC
Set in London’s beating heart of music “Camden” reveals the untold stories of how the lives and careers of some of the world’s most iconic artists were influenced by this corner of London.Through archive footage, observational filming and interviews, we will explore Camden’s rich history. Hearing from world renowned musicians as they relive their Camden experiences; from their very first gigs to sell out concerts, the highs & lows of nights out and a youth spent discovering music. All episodes arrive at once.
