What’s coming soon to Disney+ UK in May 2020?

Disney’s Netflix rival is finally here in the UK, serving up Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar originals, along with a post-modern revamp of High School Musical and almost every episode of The Simpsons. Except, due to both the coronavirus pandemic and Disney’s newcomer status in the streaming game, a lot of that original new content is a while off yet. Until then, though, there’s a treasure trove of older Disney titles available to binge through, plus the following new arrivals in the coming month.
May, of course, means Star Wars Day – May the 4th, etc. etc. – and Disney+ is celebrating with not only the finale of The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian but also the debut of a new weekly original docuseries about The Mandalorian.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Disney UK in May:
Prop Culture: Season 1 – 1st May
Film historian and prop collector Dan Lanigan reunites iconic Disney movie props with the filmmakers, actors, and crew who created and used them in some of Disney’s most beloved films. Throughout this journey, Dan will recover lost artifacts, visit private collections, and help restore pieces from the Walt Disney Archives to their original glory. Among the films featured this season are Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Mary Poppins, The Muppet Movie, Tron and Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Primal Survivor – 1st May
Extreme adventurer Hazen Audel relives his most thrilling, most agonizing and most down-right disgusting moments and reveals what it takes to become a Primal Survivor. Finding water, sourcing protein, building shelter and making fire are essential to staying alive in the wild, but in some hostile regions of the world, these survival basics can seem impossible to master.
Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian – 4th May
An eight-episode documentary series that pulls back the curtain on The Mandalorian. Each chapter explores a different facet of the first live-action Star Wars television show through interviews, never-before-seen footage, and roundtable conversations hosted by Jon Favreau.
It’s a Dog’s Life – 15th May
The iconic voice of Goofy and Pluto for more than 30 years, Disney Legend Bill Farmer steps out from behind the microphone to meet his own favourite characters — dogs! Join Bill as he crosses the country meeting dogs doing all kinds of incredible jobs that make our lives better.
Taylor Swift: City of Lover – 18th May
Taylor Swift performs songs from her award-winning album, Lover. Filmed in Paris in September 2019, this show gives fans unprecedented access to behind-the-scenes moments with the artist and marks her only concert performance for 2020. Available for a limited time.
The Big Fib – 22nd May

In each episode of this comedy game show, a kid starts by playing a warm-up round where a silly liar and an authentic expert share fabulous fibs and fun facts.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series – Fridays
It’s the start of something new for High School Musical. The successful franchise that includes a trio of internationally popular movies and best-selling soundtracks is back with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, a brand new, song-filled, 10-episode scripted series for Disney+. This inventive show follows a group of students who are counting down the days until they get to perform in their school’s first-ever production of, yes, High School Musical: The Musical.
