It’s a spring of sequels this April on Apple TV+, with Loot and The Big Door Prize both returning, alongside a follow-up to the excellent documentary Boys State. Plus there’s noir thrills on offer from Colin Farrell.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Apple TV+ UK in April 2024:
Loot: Season 2 – 3rd April
Hailing from creators Alan Yang and Matt Hubbard, the workplace comedy follows billionaire Molly Novak (Rudolph), whose perfect marriage crumbles and leads her to try and find redemption through a charity foundation that she didn’t know she owned. Season 2 kicks off a year after Molly Wells (Rudolph) settles her very public divorce from tech billionaire John Novak (Adam Scott), and we find her thriving in her role as the head of her philanthropic organisation, the Wells Foundation. Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men and embarks on a wellness journey. Fabulously single but not particularly independent, Molly keeps her trusty assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster) by her side. He diligently caters to her every whim – and occasionally feeds her a kale smoothie spiked with gin. The first two episodes arrive together, followed by episodes weekly until the finale on 29th May.
Sugar: Season 1 – 5th April
Colin Farrell exec-produces this noir thriller and stars as John Sugar, an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried. The first two of eight episodes arrive together, followed by episodes weekly.
Girls State – 5th April
What would American democracy look like in the hands of teenage girls? A political coming-of-age story and a stirring reimagination of what it means to govern, Girls State follows young female leaders — from wildly different backgrounds across Missouri — as they navigate an immersive experiment to build a government from the ground up.
Franklin: Season 1 – 12th April
In December 1776, Benjamin Franklin is world famous for his electrical experiments. But his passion and power are put to the test when he embarks on a secret mission to France — with the fate of American independence hanging in the balance. Michael Douglas and Eddie Marsan star in this eight-part drama based on Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff’s book. The first three episodes arrive together, followed by weekly episodes until the finale on 17th May.
The Big Door Prize: Season 2 – 24th April
A small town is forever changed when a mysterious machine appears, promising to reveal everyone’s true potential. Soon residents start changing jobs, rethinking relationships, and questioning long-held beliefs—all in pursuit of a better future. Created by David West Read (Schitt’s Creek) and starring Chris O’Dowd), the 10-part Season 2 follows the residents of Deerfield as the Morpho machine readies them for the mysterious “next stage”. As everyone’s potentials are exchanged for visions, new relationships form and new questions are asked. The first three episodes arrive together, followed by new episodes weekly until the finale on 12th June.
